Half of the top 10 positions in DRIP (or XOP) at the moment are refineries. Not even oil producers.
There are also plenty natural gas focused producers in there, and some companies that are actively in process of being bought out (ex CLR) which is just pure wasted space while the fund managers suck more fees.
I'd estimate only around half the ETF consists of direct exposure to oil production.

Why do some leveraged ETFs give you dividends and others don't. I dont understand how you can hold the underlying and not receive the dividend? Are they doing some weird derivative that is an underlying equivalent like a complicated option spread for every asset?

The term the ETF fact sheet uses is "absolute leverage" for the type of leverage they are using.

I know for a fact some funds that are leveraged at 1.25x still give dividends, so not all leverage is equal. I dont get it.
