52386748 No.52386748 [Reply] [Original]

Bought 12k of link in 2018 based on advice from this board and haven't posted/lurked since. Have it stored on Coinbase. This whole FTX debacle has me a little worried. Should I pull it out and store in a wallet?
Coinbase seems like the Amazon at the end of the .com bubble to me. IMO if any exchange is to survive the crypto winter and continue to expand, it's them.
Am I wrong in thinking this? With collapses left and right, they seem to be cementing themselves as the gold standard of buying crypto.
BTW I'm never selling.

Can I have 500 link?

Coinbase literally say in their user agreement that if they go Bankrupt they're taking your money, but that's the same for any CEX really so.......maybe? They're all safe until they aren't.

yeah and up until last week FTX was considered by most to be the "gold standard", and before that it was Celsius
at this stage nothing is safe
why not move most of your assets to a cold wallet, wait 8 months for the dust to settle, then get back?

So you purchased 12 000 link for $6000 more or less in 2018... you saw the valuation of your bag reach over $500 000 just 3 years later and that wasnt good enough for you?

First of all I'm 40 y-o and indeed a house paid in full is very good because you don't need to work as much. I made enough money to pay my house this bullrun and since then I switched to working 25h a week instead of 40h

actually bought it for ~2700 when it dipped down below 25c in the summer. Bought it drunk off my ass too so yes I'm not a smart investor.
it was worth ~600k at the peak but that's not even enough to buy a decent sized house where I live.
Plus I genuinely believe in the project. Seems like one of the few that actually tries to move pie-in-the-sky ideas into actuality rather than hodl memes and shiesty jews.
and yes I am a bad investor.

I bet you couldnt even explain the differences between Chainlink and its oracle competitors
