I remember the day I realised that my childhood friend may have been my best friend, but I wasn't his. Very disheartening. Same with realising that my "friends" almost never contact me to hang out, I usually had to contact them and when they do contact me, it's usually because they want something. I think true friends are very rare nowadays, whether to stick with these "friends" or not is up to you, I didn't.

I have had ups and downs with my childhood best friend. When he went to a different university from me we didn’t see each other for a while and it hurt a bit to see him moving on. He chose me for best man at his wedding though and since then things have been very solid.
