DTCC (derivatives clearinghouse) has an ongoing project for implementation of faster settlement using digital systems called Project ION, apparently they partnered with R3 for that. (R3 is a big CBDC fintech company that works with central banks) R3/R3 Corda's Settler product has been using XRP-driven ODL for settlement for years. XinFin/XDC also maybe plays a part in this but i don't know how. DTCC's former president was an advisor to Ripple's board of directors a while back.

it seems logical to assume that this new workflow will incorporate blockchain tech somehow. whether or not that involves XRP or Ripple products is anyone's guess.

Plus if the member institutions have to prove their holdings and it turns out that- whoops!- they were lying about how much they actually have in their accounts, or they were overleveraged and rehypothecated (and many of the banks undoubtedly are)- then that could be a pretty big issue.

DTCC de-risking and transitioning to a DLT-based system is also interesting because it could mean they are preparing for a coming storm. at this point everyone knows that the whole system is about to blow up, the only question is when and what will spark it (it'll be a "cyber pandemic"/cyberattack, probably involving a targeted attack on financial infrastructure)

They are great at programming. They are bad at economics and seeing the larger picture which is a common trait in comp sci. Both of those systems attempt to serve too many purposes. Every new bell or whistle you add detracts from something somewhere else. I don't see a future for either of those systems long term. Proof of steak slows things down as do the smart congrats... These two facts make it unlikely in my mind they will be used for cross border payments. Similarly the speed of flare will position it better for smart contracts... Also it has a more robust backing model. Flare was the marriage of XRP speed with a contract platform designed by actual derivative and hedge fund traders. Not a programmer trying to recreate his or her notion of what star trek money would look like. Cardano and Algo are grab bags that have features designed to appeal to everyone. This is a great programming strategy to sell a product ... But had zero end game use.

Willing to hear different side though. I just need to know what niche they would actually fill. Xrp has almost smart contracts with hooks and flare will be an entire ecosystem of tokens moving back and forth....

ISDA used Algo because it gave them what they needed at the moment: legal proof positive that block chains in general could be used to implement the common transparency mechanisms the industry agreed to. Whether or not this turns into a long-term advantage for Algo... I'm doubtful. That's all. Yes they have a single cbdc ... But again look at which one it is. To me it just looks like bread and circus before some bigger event.
