I'm about to start a job and I will earn 35k€ brut a year, about 1700€ net a month in 15 pays.
My expenses are about 650€ or 700€ a month (I share a flat with another guy). Im about to buy a car so that's like 300€ more a month. Let's say my expenses are 1000€ a month.
How much money should I start putting in a pension plan/stocks? 200€ each?

1. you don't need a car, and if you actually do then just save for a bit and buy a reliable used one (e.g. vw polo mk4)

2. putting money in a pension plan is ridiculous especially in Europe, you'll get money from your taxes and if you want an extra cushion just invest in a solid etf, in 40 years it'll give you more return than any pension plan in europe ever could

>> No.51622437

why do you say the gross number? to feel better about your pathetic net number?

I earn 1500 euros net per month and I work in a call center in Bulgaria (the poorest country in european union)

What do you work for? I hope you don't live in the West because that's a cashier tier salary in the West

Before you start blowing money, go read some books on personal finance. A car is one of the worst things to go into debt over. It costs you money in so many ways, insurance, gas, repairs, depreciation etc etc. Just buy something cheap and good on gas and save to fund your financial freedom.

>> No.51622868

I've been in a similar situation. It won't kill you to spend the first week or two living out of your car. Go to the gym after work every day to get some exercise and a shower. You can also look at Facebook listings for short term rentals, or Airbnb in the area for the first month or two. Save up some cash, get a cheap apartment or buy a camper or something

Also let's just say the city the job is in is a bit "dark" so I'm not sure how wise it is to just sleep in a car somewhere.

That's brutal and that's why I quit.
I was spending 2 hours on the road a day.
I was waking up at 6 AM to get ready, leaving at 7 AM, getting there at 8.
Getting off at 5.
By the time I got back to the house, it was a 12 hour day. Just enough time to make dinner and then it was time to go to bed.
That's really far to drive. Some people do it but I can't.

A pension is a vehicle for you to save for your retirement, and will allow you to Invest in whichever fund you wish. There are important tax benefits to pension contributions.

Different EU countries have different tax laws so I can only give it to you from a UK perspective.

Find out what your new employer offers in terms of a workplace pension and start there. You want a mixture of pension investment and personal investment that focuses on a diversified portfolio.

Or buy imaginary coins not backed by tangible assets. I dunno.
