unironically, you make it. i'm richer then my father, who spent his entire life crawling up the corporate ladder and eventually ended up as some soulless C-suite. meanwhile, i'm a multimillionaire because i bought digital coins back in 2013. he seethes at the very mention of bitcoin

What is with boomers getting jealous of the success of their sons? I also see the opposite happen when their kids are a failure and they act all smug and brag about how much better off they were then them at their age

i don't know anon, it's honestly pathetic. when i tried to talk to him about it he was quick to proclaim that he "knew everything" about bitcoin and that it was a scam, but then failed to explain how it's consensus or governance mechanisms worked. he also works in finance, so i suspect in the case of my father in particular it's a bruised ego.

another funny tidbit, and one of the reasons he gave for thinking bitcoin is a scam, is there is no central founder or a 'story' behind it. i think it's a boomer thing that they expect some kind of up and coming story from a central founder figure that they can rally behind, and without it their brains break.

They are a generation entirely Ego Driven. Fathers used to want their kids to have a Better Life than them. Now, they compete with their children in the marketplace of status rather than accepting that the ultimate flex is raising children better than them in all respects and capable of more.
