Frens, I have a serious question;

If the railroad strikes do happen(which seems more likely since the workers voted 99.5% to reject whatever tentative agreements the jews give them) next week starting on September 16th, what are the best stocks to invest in?

Because that shit could easily put the whole USA into an economic depression if the strikes last for even a month.

ARKX is garbage, we would be better off picking winning horses than ARKX and if any anon can prove me wrong Ill take it because every good investment is private and BA can suck my ass. Should we buy Lockheed and GD?

As far as space stocks go ASTS for sure. I've seen price targets in the $30-$80 range (pic related is Deutche Bank) and that's on the conservative side. I've seen price targets of $500 on the optimistic side. What they're doing is on a completely different level than Lynk or T-Mobile/Starlink or Apple/GSAT.

Because the satellites T-Mobile needs require SpaceX Starship which isn't even operational yet. Meanwhile ASTS Blue Birds can fit on a Falcon and in fact they already booked the first five rides. And what T-Mobile is planning to offer is on a tier below ASTS in terms of bandwidth. It's a glorified emergency service. AT&T, Rakuten, and Vodafone have invested lot's of many in this no name company.
SpaceX hasn't gone public probably because going public means Elon has less control over his dream child.

Unironically it's the biggest pump and dump scheme this decade. Openly tell everyone they wont be able to afford a house. Tell them everything will cost more. Somehow trick retail that this economy is twice as good as 2019. Retail will be rugged but timing it might be hard.

Tbh I can see media convincing retail that the low monthly inflation is a buy signal and to disregard the annual inflation.

I can see powwow reduce interest rates to sell retail.

I can see complete rug pull before during or after q4 results. Almost all the largest companies in America have become stale. Apple outsources all its labor. It's highly paid desk workers have concluded that society needs a watch that's also a thermometer..

Crash should be Monday once institutions look at retail share sales. But I doubt it. Institutions will keep burning dollars to pump the market.

If they get spy to 430 after pow wow then I'm all in for eoy puts.

People want to buy when there is blood in the streets but the fight hasnt even happened yet.

VALE, USAC, JEPI and reit stuff all get shilled here and pay crazy divs. Natural gas prices are inflated right now so I wouldn't fuck with USAC. VALE is down since steel/iron prices are fucked with China being so fucked up at the moment. It's only paying semi annually and you already missed the record date in August though so not the greatest entry right now. JEPI is a pretty based place to park your money since it pays every 1st of the month and you can expect it to grow longterm since it's just sp500 covered call type shit. You can pick companies that are safe and sell your own covered calls and replicate what jepi is doing if you like to actively manage your portfolio.

REITs you should look for one that does more utilities and cellphone towers and shit. The housing market is kinda sus but there are still reits that won't get fucked if that ponzi explodes

These days I'm on full boring boomer mode and mostly listen to Steely Dan, Miles Davis and Guided by Voices, though i stumbled on a pretty good one-album psych rock band from Japan, Cosmic Invention. Not usually my jam, but I dig it

I get burned on trailing stops too often, usually resulting in selling the low of the day. I just pick a price that looks good and adjust as the chart changes. June dumped to lows of the year

May bull trapped into giga dump

All of the macro has gotten worse. Inflation hasn't peaked/isn't reversing. Energy prices are worse. China situation is worse, Russian tensions are escalating and sanctions are hurting euro more than Russia. BRICS looks more appealing as a global alternative every day. Saudis aren't gonna help, Iran isn't going to help. We are going to have 9 months of decreasing GDP soon and Yellen is still gonna shill about how we need more gibs for brown people. There is literally absofuckinglutely zero reason to be bullish and you guys are buying the top of a 6% retard pump in the last week.

Best of luck retard. Also as dumb as the people buying energy stocks when they are self defeating in nature with the current macro. If energy pumps anymore the economy crashes and creates demand destruction in the very companies you tards are trying to pump

Get more time on your options. You are buying inside the most extreme part of the theta decay curve. If you have more time you have more extrinsic value to hedge on if the price moves against you. You can sometimes even get out for a tiny profit if you are on the right side of vega and get a good fill. Buying in the money options is actually a better idea than out of the money as you will exchange delta's for other greeks if the price moves against you hurting you less. However Theta will scale that exchange down to be less beneficial and less noticeable.

I got a friend working for CSX, check out CSX stock if you want something directly tied to railways in eastern america.

With that said, from what I hear from him, people are fucking pissed. They got employment contracts from like 1910 , meaning they dont get more than 2 weeks off work (including sick leave) , and all of the other benefits regular people get, they dont get. (its a special thing for the railway industry)

Im not an amerifat so I dont know the exact rules , but according to my friend it seems to be happening. He will be joining in on that.

With that said, it would be a step up from where we are at with an economic depression.
I think since railways are basically another glove of the government, they wont allow strikes to happen for that long.
It'll make CSX and other such stocks tumble a lil bit until its all said and done though is my assumption...

its kind of a short term play though. The FED raising interest rates will crash the economy worse than what we have ever seen before, I believe. Unless, they can come up with yet another scam excuse to print more money to paper it all over. And even that, seems to be a failing idea as of right now (inflation etc).

-Im taking up a cash position, not going to say % of my portfolio, but its a substantial ammount. Just so I can do what JPM and Goldman were doing when everyone was selling - buying. 90% drops everywhere coming soon near you. Keep some powder dry for that. I really think we got a good chance of that happening. The real economy is already in the shitter as I assume you already know ?

Check the baltic dry index or new york empire manufacturing index. Hit a new low just a few weeks ago. The real economy is not looking goody goody I think.

the midterm election cycle bottom is in september historically, once washington politics can be "priced in" things can stabilize.

the strong USD looks like it could be peaking as the ECB has hiked rates from 0 to 0.75. cpi on weds will be low and surprise investors to the upside(cleveland Fed has forecasted inflation to have come down significantly), the markets already priced in 75 bps for the next fomc on september 21. in addition once they conclude 75 bps then 25 bps in nov, then 25 bps in dec, they will pause and keep rates there to assess where inflation/economy is going. if inflation is sticky or going up, they will probably pull a Paul Volker, so we're not out of the woods yet. but we are closer to the end of the feds tightening cycle, so in the short term i am bullish because the the mid term election cycle is nearing its end, and the fed will stop shocking markets soon.

Puts that are almost deep ITM at 74 delta will have little extrinsic value, so theta decay and IV crush aren't really a concern. The vast majority of the PL will be from direction.

There will 100% be a pivot soon and stocks will rally hard. I say this as someone balls deep in SQQQ. This will probably be right in lockstep with congress trying some money printing to buy votes. Coordinated to pump 401ks back up by early Nov, while not causing gas prices up too much till after that.

Obviously inflation will not be vanquished back to 2% by that time. Watch the inflation plays: TIPS break evens (T5YIE), gold, and oil. Someone connected will know the fed is going to pivot so you'll see it there 1st IMO. Don't get hooked. Don't miss the inflation trade when it's go time.

After the dems are done stuffing/counting/harvesting ballots the incentives change and it'll be time to be out again, most likely. IDK WTF they care about more at that point but I suspect it might be back to stubborn hawkishness and trying to crush oil (i.e. Russia) even if it means sending unemployment to 10%. After all they'll have 2 years till next elections and so they figure they have 2 years to beat Putler with King Dollar before they have to go back to printing to buy votes again.

I mostly agree with your post. Sane take. Only that I would like to add like some other anon pointed out in this thread that energy prices going into the winter are a huge downside risk that could make the equity markets shit the bed. This and gridlock could be a terrible combination. SPR is also at capacity I saw somewhere? All of this is apparently neither in the hands of the fed nor the US government but who knows how this is being gamed out geopolitically... And to your point:
>then 25 bps in nov, then 25 bps in dec
What does fed funds rate say? I doubt you can forecast this. So in your view terminal rate will be 3.75?

yeah i think oil will probably go down in the next month or two but ratchet higher later this winter once the SPR releases end, maybe china reopens, and then oil could start spreading inflation again. which could mean the fed pausing and seeing whats happening in markets is a good thing i suppose since they arent finished then. they sound like the temporary rate could be 3.75, but i also heard fed ppl say they could be at 4 or higher. my guess would be more hikes next year if inflation really is entrenched, then we get a stronger recession and everythings bad again
