Longer doesn't necessarily equal better, some missions dragged on a bit too long like the gondola ride or elevator portions. Halo 3 was mechanically better in a lot of ways and still looks great for its age but it got like 30% of its campaign cut, while it was already essentially just cut content off of Halo 2 in the first place. Still my favorite though, along with ODST.

Halo 2 got a lot of it’s campaign cut also, man imagine how much better the trilogy could have been if not for Microsoft pushing Bungie to finish up before their planned release dates.

The irony is Bungie left Microsoft for this reason of them being bossy and left for Activision which was 100x worse and now Bungie is dead
