I suspect a PF is more like our "401K," where an employer contributes. An IRA is under complete personal control and contributions are usually after taxes and deposited by the individual. So you could continue to contribute to the IRA regardless of employment status.
That said, we can usually roll over our 401Ks into IRAs as well.
Tapping into retirement accounts is only reasonable for unhealthy folks who don't expect to live long anyway.
But investing in PMs for gains is ill-advised.

You are right about the 401k. I have only 2500USD in my PF account, I can't contribute to it anymore, I don't know if it accures interest anymore. I don't want to rely on my government and expect them to be competent and give me decent returns. Also 2500USD will not amount to any kind of retirement fund. On the other hand, I do expect silver to go to the moon. Silver seems like an under valued asset right now, once it reaches the peak, I'll have to find other asset classes to invest in. Gamble or not, an underpriced asset is a great place to park your capital when everything else is overpriced. Silver is literally best in class on multiple fronts. If gold and platinum groups can maintain thousand dollar per ounce pricing than silver can easily 10x from here. No-problem.

Paper receipt derivatives is what is keeping the price of metals down. Well then you would say to me "Great, just let the derivative system crash". The central bank and elites will never let this happen, the whole thing is a game of chicken and will keep on doing what they are doing because they control the bullion market price itself, which is what you measure its value at. Even if the derivatives crashed the western governments will just rob everyone of their metals. From what I've gathered, carpentry, auto-mechanic work, small engine repair (generators, mowers, weed-whackers), and electrician work are all solid choices. The latter two pay the best, at least where I live.

You have some funny ideas. Bankruptcy is a matter of Federal Law administered by the US government. The US government isn't subject to its own bankruptcy laws. If the US government defaults on its debt, it is just tough shit for the lenders. They have no recourse under any bankruptcy law. And who exactly do you think would make the USA sell its assets? Yes, a massive default will temporarily destroy the US credit rating. But many former customers of US bonds are leaving the market anyway - China being the main example. And the recent weaponizing of foreign dollar reserves has accelerated that movement. So the shock to the world is less of a risk daily.

So a default is one possibility. The other possibility is paying off the debt with inflated currency. That is just a default under another name and will have the same results on the US credit rating since creditors will be screwed just the same. But again the creditors have no recourse. I just wonder how that'd shape the collecting side of silver. A lot of silver coins made are trash, so you'll have like a pickle rick worth $2500. And then classic coins like Morgan dollars would be worth 1900 dollars so they'd basically be unobtainium.

Nah, I'm not really believing that meme where a mercury dime buys you some sex fantasy. Plus I'm getting too old to really give a shit about that. My goal is simply to preserve what little I've managed to save over the years, and since silver is "on sale" lately, I loaded up on it to get the best bang for my buck. There's no sense in missing a big sale on purpose.
Quite frankly I didn't much enjoy buying all this silver, because I had to do it so quickly, and jump through a bunch of hoops for various reasons that I don't want to get into. It would have been much nicer if this could have been a relaxing hobby that I cultivate over the course of decades, searching for and trading rare and interesting coins, and trying to complete various collections. But there's simply no time left for that, so I did what I had to in order to secure my small savings (which probably will end up going to my brothers or nephews later on someday).
