I worked at a bakery.
Shit is hard work.

We have to be there and do prep as early as 2 am.
Would not recommend unless you really know what you are doing and have experience.

I used to own a bakery so listen up:

you have to be there. in person. from very very early in the morning until you close. otherwise, it just won't work.

if you're not making at least 50% profit on your goods you're not going to withstand the fluctuations in the price of raw materials and you won't be able to hire people to take off the pressure once things start to roll.

location! it's better to sell bad bread next to a metro station than to sell the best baguettes where there's no traffic.

the baker: if you think you're going to bake and manage the business at the same time. you're wrong. I know this because you're on 4chan. so you need a baker. get a good one. and good ones are all assholes [they are under stress]. but be patient, because clients are very sensitive to changing your recipes. people want to eat the same thing over and over.

the products: specialize in something. people will travel one hour to eat your ridiculously expensive scones if they are really good. that doesn't mean you can't sell other stuff, just have an item that is the superstar.

last but not least. don't do it. unless you are passionate about bread and love the art of bread and pastry [cheesy as it sounds] you won't make it. it's a loooot of work. you have to be extremely consistent and dedicated.

selling loaves of freshly baked bread is plum retarded. first off, you can't expect it to be that expensive since it's just fucking fluffed out flour, second they take up a lot of space in the oven. OP should just open up a donut slash ice cream coffee shop, fried donuts preferably since they taste more decadent. you don't even have to compete with starbucks. just serve some decent tasting reg coffee or offer free coffee with orders. and it's just salt and sugar added on top, so all you have to do is make the donuts and ice cream look pretty and gay af and overprice each of them in a little block shop on a busy touristy street and voila, you're good. there's a local donut place where i live that opens and closes before noon and have been there for decades. they make so much bank that they can afford to not open all day long
