i will wait for cpi to drop
if it is BULLISH (most likely) no problem i make loads of cash
if it is BEARISH (unlikely but could happen) i will get up immediately and push pee out as fast as i can. i will pee my pants and aim to bring the stream toward the pc or the power cables whichever is easier. once it short circuits i can take a photo and call my broker. then i can ask them to cancel my orders from yesterday (calls) because of technical issues. if they want evidence i can just send then the photo. it will be dated so they will have to refund any money that i lost.

To put it in simple terms, I am fine with buying a call spread and capping my gains because it allows me to buy a fuck load more contracts for cheaper since IV is already quit high on VIX calls.

It's basically lowering my cost basis but still opening me up benefit from the convexity of VIX calls i.e. the velocity of the move will still be hard enough for me to profit on a 30/35 debit spread on VIX October 2022

Whenever retail traders like us look at call spreads we get turned off by the idea of capping our gains by selling a further OTM call than the one we had, but it is actually very useful since it allows us to leverage ourselves up more by buying more units of that call spread

Fuck no, look at the payout profile for a wide spread like that. If VIX speeds past 40 I am still at a huge profit, the nature of these debit spreads is that I have a max profit that is way larger than my max loss.

So basically if VIX goes to like 50 for some reason, I still stand to profit because my 30c VIX calls are making way more money than my 35c calls are losing - that is the nature of volatility and deltas on options.

Do not be afraid to sell a farther OTM call to lower your cost basis anon.
Anyways...buying VIX/VXX low delta calls = Long vomma/volga = long vol convexity.

The thing is that when the market is hedged up and we're in the high 20's to mid 30's, shit is boring and there's no point in buying VIX products because the market is pre-hedged and there's not much velocity in VIX that is remaining.

But when the market starts breathing easy and VIX deflates to 20 again, you better start hedging up and predicting that down the line, other people are going to bid up volatility - because they fucking will.

When the VIX is at 20, the VIX has a lot more room to demonstrate its convexity aka sharp moves upwards in a short period of time ....this is why you go long on OTM VIX products since Vomma / Volga exists in the OTM options
