i fell for the consulting meme and changes jobs to a mid-level consulting position and left that shit 6 months later.

the entire industry is a farce, it provides literally zero value. it only exists at all to give managers in fortune 500 companies with more budget than sense a way to have plausible deniability for shitty choices they want to make. "oh its not my fault revenue decreased by 25% this quarter, it's the policies this consulting firm suggested!"

none of the work these general consulting firms do is valuable, they're just exploiting market inefficiencies that show up as a result of managers being weak and afraid to take responsibility for their actions. the only valuable consultants are the ones who have decades of experience in a very narrow field, and become industry leaders in that field.
