I worked as a security guard a long time ago, it's literally getting paid to sit at a desk and do nothing. My coworkers were the kind of vacant headed niggers who think "OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST JOB EVER!"

It's a good job if you're in school though, because you can easily study and do assignments during your shift. If you want to make a career out of security you should just get a shitty job with a big agency like Securitas, then once you have some "experience" either join the TSA or customs and border patrol.

Yeah, because mechanical engineering is a dead career field with horrendous opportunities that boomers and guidance counselors scam bright young students into going into.

Literally, what’s the first thing anyone says about a Mech eng degree? “It’s so flexible!”, it’s another way of saying you’re not going to end up working as a mechanical engineer because all the mechanical engineering jobs are horrendous, low paying trash and the boomers that hire for them are retards that will pay you as much as a retail worker while demanding more and more out of you.

At my college they released stats on what the students with the highest incoming ACT/SAT were choosing for their major, it was overwhelmingly ME and EE. The STEM scam has gone on long enough, these degrees were good in 1973 before the US deindustrialized, now they are total fucking scams and if you have any brains you should go into programming or finance or medicine, all three of which are total fake and gay scams.

The whole thing about Engineering being this collection of various fields is history, for example there is no thing such as "electrical engineer" in real world anymore, no innovation has happened in decades as far as electricals are considered, we already have all the blueprints of latest bulbs, fans and other appliances, and they are getting mass produced for cheap in some Chinese ODM factory, at best you need some technicians for maintenance and QA clerks.

you will start out and think it's good: your initial comp is competitive and you will be learning cad stuff which is fun for a month
very quickly you will realise that cad is monkey work, that you never use your brain whatsoever, that you were horrendously overeducated, and that your coworkers are senile boomers who genuinely don't understand what they are doing
your mileage may vary here but personally i had to travel a lot to visit sites, instruct people, take photos, etc and this is just awful - it destroys your life
some engineers just sit in offices poking around on cad and that sounds soul crushing in its own way but having to drive for hours and hours to be at some shitty factory, power plant, or pipeline in the middle of buttfuck nowhere to then sit in a glorified shipping container because the peons can't be trusted to give you measurements or whatever else for your cad is a poor way to spend your week
being a project manager is even worse because then you have to instruct the gormless peons about what to do and these monkey brained boomers who can't even spell "engineering" genuinely think they know better than you since they've been fitting pipe for 30 years
the fact they have never progressed beyond that in 30 years doesn't strike them as an indictment of their abilities
so you can enjoy trying to wipe their asses as they do stupid shit like simply not install valves or sometimes install extra ones
that's exceptionally bad but it's always painful and these people seem to have a vendetta against basic shit like using welding screens purely out of petulance
once you're finished on site you get to go back to a barebones hotel, assuming you didn't want to spend your whole paycheck on accommodation, and be bored and eat some takeout because there's no other option

the real killer for it though is the career progression
the aforementioned coworkers will all be divorced and have nothing in their lives besides work and be bizzarely proud of their work for being "real" or some nonsense and they will think that $70k total comp is still some sort of fantastic salary moreover they really don't need the money
so they never negotiate and since they're your seniors you can't negotiate for more than them and they will sooner die than retire so you're just sat in limbo waiting for senior positions to open up when one of these fossils finally dies
even if you get one total comp is barely equivalent to numbers thrown around as starting tech salaries in the coastal states and you have a lot more bullshit to deal with

that was my experience
not all engineers do site work but my options were stay in an office for a shitty salary or become a project manager and earn double
the work is easy it is just incredibly time consuming, tedious, and requires you to be present a lot of the time
in the age when working from home is finally taking off i cannot imagine why anyone would want to tolerate that shit
if you're only middlingly intelligent, don't value your free time, can't get into sales, and can't work with computers it is still a better career
being a pm is a piece of piss most of them are useless and can't even hire plant or organise procurement whatsoever

I've used that to leverage myself a pretty decent raise, but still it isn't great money. if you're good at math and physics and like them then engineering is fine decision. if you suck at them and are good at verbal subjects then go for something related to that. business / econ is half verbal half math.
law is verbal zero math and so on. medschool is half and half. enginering is math and very little verbal skills, verbal memory etc. required

you can easily look at your previous schools scores which subject you are good at. if
you're math and physics scores sucked you are not going to "magically" improve in math once you decide to go engineering. most school numbers are less about practise people have natural talents for differen things

Mech Eng, worked for Aerospace companies for close to 6 years.

Dead end job with all the development already done in the 70s.

>But many things was controlled mechanically which I thought was really smart and "new think", if you know what I mean.
yeah
elegant mechanical solutions are really nice to see and reliable
i'm just not sure there will be the real demand for them though
i worked at a factory that had endless problems draining effluent because all the electrode sensors they were using were just getting corroded and fucked so it was my idea to just use a float
which worked but they continued to want to replace that with an electric solution idk why i suppose they just thought that was inherently more advanced
we spent six months trying numerous ways to try and filter, dilute, neutralise, and do all sorts to the effluent and when i quit they were still trying
ofc that's just an anecdote but it contributed to me hating my job since it felt so disrespectful

who wants to actually collect an easy 100k a year without uni and shit....i'll happily give u the guide

dumb cucks here dont even realise their are WFH gigs where you literally send 4-5 emails a day and collect 70k a year.....

righto cunt, cap this
>> 1-go to linkedin (seek and co. are trash) , search contract admin or something generic

>> 2-click on a few different cucks roasties profile with that title, rip their job descriptions and add this to a resume file with your name

>> 3-now go look for companies that have gone bankrupt in the last few years, congrats now u worked for them for 2-4 years each

now spam this fake resume around to generic applicaitons on linkedin

you WILL get interviews, to pass this just recite stories from your fake resume and tell them you want WFH and a 90k to move

eventually you get an offer, do the bare minimum, get booted after a few months and rinse and repeat

beats neetbux by a mile

yeah mates
so look once u pass a interview they want references
how u beat this step is
-get 2 mates label them as your references as past managers for said bankrupt companies
-most companies will just email a standard form to them and they can just say u were great

-if they call your friends tell them good stuff and if they ask specifics on jobs done, you buff them off with privacy and ip reasons we cant tell u too much detail

once you get a new role you can easily copy paste this method so if your current role gets a shit manager etc. you move into another role and then you use the real previous company to cover up your fake bankrupt company on your resume

rinse and repeart after a year you will have been to 2-3 real companies
you have been trained enough to get the gist of the job
and you can now name your price kek, always ask for +15k for each new role

More like the complete opposite because the moment you get your undergrad degree and enter industry you have to basically go right back to school to learn all the obscure tribal knowledge contained in your specific field that nobody ever bothers writing down. Plus the fact that nobody ever teaches enough statistics to satisfy production overseers, which you pretty much learn on the fly. Also learning enough diff eq to understand basic features of fluids and heat dynamics isn't undereducated. That's teaching you the bare minimum required to understand what those table lookups are trying to represent so you're more than the mecheng equivalent of a pajeet bootcamp coder who crashes Windows 10 every other month due to incompetency.

Agree with anon who is not worried about being replaced. They already tried that, it failed. Looking at you 737-max. The world population and living standard is shooting up, while the IQ is shooting down. Pay a nigga.

I'm always surprised how shitty engineers have it in terms of pay.
I'm 25 and make good money, but basically live in hotels and I'm sick of it. I want to actually live in the home I bought and have a family one day.
Most of my work is with broadcast, AV, network, and RF related projects. Done some DoD stuff too.
I'm going back to school eventually for engineering and was thinking EE with maybe a focus on RF or computers.
Hoping to eventually get a PM position I always see filled by retards that do literally nothing.

It's not all bad really. You can be really mediocre and just have a comfy office job with good benefits. takes a long time to get to 6 figures, though.
Most of the time you have zero responsibility and your inability to think outside of the CAD vacuum will be fixed by the grumbling laborers that actually make more than you (mostly because your mistakes give them OT)

Idk what you mechs keep complaining about, IT fags only get hired if they are a shitskin or a woman and other engineering fields are absolutely dominated by boomers (aka you are not getting anything good if you don´t have 10 years of experience)

MechE here, 29, working as a brake component design engineer in the Midwest. I fucking hate my job. If you are 18 and starting college, just do not go for mechanical engineering ESPECIALLY if you will live on the US east or west coasts. The pay is not good enough for the responsibility. You will work in a shit 30 year old cubicle with no windows in sight. All of your coworkers will be 30 years older than you. Project management, Quality, and production supervisors will look to you for all the answers while also making more money than you. I’ve fought tooth and nail to scratch $100k a year and there were easier routes. If you’re smart enough for this field, just do comp sci instead so you can work from home and make more money

Worked out well for me. I make $105k in Indianapolis 5 years out of school as a MechE. Got my PE license and work as MEP engineer. Don't do any of my own drafting, just conceptual design/calculations/project management. There's more to engineering than hard engineering.
