It can go so far as to tank 50% of its overall value in a single year

Inflation isn't bad when banks offer 5% APY and wages are adjusted in accordance with (REAL) inflation numbers. Sadly our FIAT currencies are tied to systems where this isn't the case, and the average joe without access to advanced financial instruments and investment vehicles is getting shafted left, right and center. That's not the value proposition of crypto though. That is just the result of speculators betting the value prop of crypto is going to propel its valuation higher than it already is. Compare the value proposition of fiat to let's say Bitcoin and tell me again that the points on that list are stupid. FIAT is convenient but a total shitcoin.
