If I had the ability to consistently buy before pumps then I would do that instead. I'd rather get paid without depending on muh heckin epic pumperino. If it does dump then I'll figure a way out, usually by selling puts lower down until you get the exit pump you need.
You do need decent taste to pick things that at least won't absolutely crater or go bankrupt, or preferably won't dump much at all.
CSPs and CCs get unfairly criticized for "flaws" no strategy can do, or brainlets will try wheeling marijuana, cruise ships, and casinos then blame the strategy. Or going all in at the absolute top of the Nasdaq bubble with no regard for economic circumstances or the current sentiment.
Eventually I could get caught in a stock I thought was good but surprisingly turns out horrible, but that's the risk of buying stocks as well without the premium. With enough premium collected over the months you have some cushion at least.
