It means for the whole of 2022, JP Morgan Chase and Citibank can suppress the market by exchanging the paper receipts labelled as gold. The more paper receipts in the market, the lower the price of gold.

If you want to know what a derivative is, it's a contract receipt between two parties over a period of time (in this case the orange bar represents a one year contract of receipts). This is to make sure on both sides get the same value of exchange outside of market forces. However the person who has brought those goods can use those receipts to flood the market and lower the price of that commodity and then buy them back. Where I'm from gold has no tax or capital gains tax so if I had $4.5 billion in gold receipts and can just keep on selling it on the market and then buy it back after a period of time.

Why would the banksters do something like this? It's to hide the fact that the fiat dollar is losing value through all the money printing that has happened over the pandemic with the main safe haven against this are precious metals like gold. If people lose faith in the US dollar and put their store of labour into gold, the US dollar ponzi scheme is over. The banksters cannot allow this to happen so are kicking the can down the road in an attempt to turn things around, only this time I don't think they will be able to do it. With the internet people talk and pass on vital information on how much fiat money is a scam. It's the banksters own god damn fault for playing stupid games, trust in the banks hasn't been this low in living memory and we could very well be on the cusp of a western economic depression, which could mean revolution.

Thats because your whole life has been trapped in a debt based Keynesian fiat scam that they desperately prop up so they can steal wealth from you. Just because you are too young to have even used sound money doesn’t mean it isn’t the best way. Your recency bias clouds your historical research. Your loss if you aren’t prepared. Better 10 years early than a day late. Also if you’re yoloing everything you have into one thing , sacrificeing rent/food/energy money, you’re a fool who deserves to fail. Personally, I come here to grab novelty coins. I'm more into numismatics and collecting graded historical pieces than I am into /pmg/'s schizophrenic ramblings about the Jewish conspiracy against the white man, but yeah there's a lot of that here.

While I do tend towards an Austrian economic mindset, I don't share a belief in conspiratorial Jewish/NWO forces specifically trying to keep everyone on /biz/ poor. The truth is, most of the people involved in our clusterfuck of an economic situation are just incompetent rather than malicious, and most people on /biz/ are degenerates that go all in on a singular assets rather than diversifying and holding down decent work. In this sense, /pmg/ has some of the right ideas about economics for entirely wrong reasons. While scarcity is not the end-all, be-all of value, it is a contributing factor to preserving it and unchecked circulation of currency should be regarded skeptically.

If you want a comfy, healthy relationship with this stuff, skip the sound money cultism and just buy whatever historicals you like. Graded coins and proof sets are less liquid, sure, but they hold value pretty decently and can be nice keepsakes from different times in your life or favorite periods of history.

>rampant hyperinflation
Y'all might want to curb your hyperbole.
The inflation you see is due mostly to four things: Trump's tax breaks for the rich, the Biden stimulus packages, high fuel rates, and high shipping rates.
The stimulus packages are done. Its effects will stay with us until the economy in general stabilizes, but mostly we are where it could bring us.
Oil companies are charging high prices, but only by US standards. Europe has been paying $5/gallon for years. Now that everyone is paying more for fuel, prices are going up to compensate. Funny thing is, everyone is still consuming like we're addicted to the stuff. In fact, we are. So the prices aren't high. We're still willing and able to pay, by making sacrifices elsewhere.
Shipping companies are reporting record high profits. Guess where the buck ends in that line? Yep - you, the consumer. If you haven't bought freight company (and oil company) stocks by now, you've missed out.
The dollar is doing great against foreign currencies. This isn't a sign of imminent economic collapse. Inflation alone is not a promise of collapse.
But keep on believing in the dark future, and stay confused about how it's possible we're still going despite the great ponzi scheme. The money you spend doing dumb stuff will finance the guys who accept reality.
I collect PMs because they please me. Over the years I've ended up with too much (yes - too much). I would like Silver in particular to get to $30 So I could unload, but I don't foresee it happening in the near future. I expect my heirs will have that opportunity, and hopefully the transfer of metals to them will go unnoticed by the gov't.

I think gold will continue to hold value owing to its use in electronics manufacturing and its historical, generally agreed upon use as a reserve asset to back the value of currency. Palladium and platinum, owing to their industrial importance and scarcity, may emerge as potential alternatives though.

As a person who has also advocated for the adoption and spread of cryptocurrencies for years now, I can't back a Bitcoin maximalist outlook right now. I think deflationary, decentralized digital currency has a place in the world, but BTC needs vast improvements towards being scalable enough to use as currency again before adoption could ever occur in a decentralized fashion; as it stands, the only practical route for a widespread adoption of Bitcoin also looks like one where a few centralized exchanges hold the keys to a vast majority of it. The Lightning Network is a solution that leaves me wanting for something more elegant; the people behind Core and the miners need to be willing to evolve the platform drastically, and I think their unwillingness to budge on several issues may suffocate BTC eventually.

I also think Ethereum also has Bitcoin beat on utility and scalability, at least if ETH's upgrades roll out within the year. The utility of smart contracts will have an outsize impact on global commerce, once we get through this era of monkey speculations and ponzi tokens.

It might not matter though; the newer generations can't really buy anything, they're mostly stuck paying off debts they accrued going through college with diminishing returns in saturated industries and exploitative workplaces. The average person buying BTC is trying to dig themselves out of a hole by speculating; they don't care about or hold the same values that the original adopters did.

These types of forums have a habit of rubbing off on people. One day you might understand. Or you wont and it will kill you. It might have already killed you and you don't know it yet.
I like me my numismatics too. It's fun and old school geeky. That said, I'm big on silver and gold being actual money.
Very few people alive today were around when silver and gold were actually money. Nobody was around when it wasn't leveraged to shit. You look at the historical prices in dollars and what you're actually looking at is the slow, attempted murder of the silver based dollar by various bookkeeping shenanigans. Pic rel. You go back to the Crime of (18)73 when silver was demonetized for the first attempted assassination of real money.

Starting with PMs can at least be starting with things you like because they mean something to you or come from a place or time you admire. From there or outside of that, investing should come from a place of sound economic education and reasonable decision making with at least a modicum of risk assessment. If you can't take the time to sit down and read something that isn't a rant on some blogspot or some Twitter thread, you probably shouldn't be fucking around with commodities in a fashion that can actually affect your livelihood.

Hey, guys.

I know I told y’all that I would be making more Kek frogs today, but I am moving and couldn’t get away to go to my jewelry club, so you’re gonna have to wait some more. Feel free to hurl abuse at me. I overpromised and over-planned. I’m bouncing some ideas around right now and I’m thinking I might just make my own setup so I don’t have to wait for a casting lab at my jewelry club. I need to wait for my next paycheck and then I’ll pull the trigger on the required equipment.

Just know I’m thinking of y’all and sorry…

What do you guys think I should do? I want to buy some more gold and some junk silver. I really like sovereigns but the premium is so high here in Australian because they attracted a 10% GST on the retail market since the arent 24k. Even though I don't buy them at retail, they still have a decent premium when sold privately? Do I just pay the premium since I can get it recouped when sold to a private person? Or do I just start buying gold bars?

Find your local playing and mechanical repair company. They sell scrap pure copper to the scrap yard at about 50% the spot price of copper. They will happily sell it to you for the same price if you come grab it.
Then smelt and pour your own. Just don't let them screw you. The copper they sell to the yard is clean. If they are shady they may try to dump unclean copper on you and save the good stuff for the scrap yard.

Tempting, but I'd prefer either an actual fraction or in grams rather than an old coin.
