is accounting a good job for a robot with high social inhibition and social anxiety?

probably not, but you can make 200k a year, so just grin and bear it.

no

I work in accounting and am socially incapable, it works well enough. You still have to talk to people though. I don't know any professional job where you can really escape it entirely. Even in CS you will have to talk to people unless you're a genius autistic savant who writes an app all by himself start to finish.

Highly unlikely though. Probably like 95% of accountants in the US make less than 90k/yr. I'm two years out of college and feel somewhat lucky I'm already making 65k/yr.

depends. if you want to be a $55-65k/year staff accountant wagie for the rest of your life, sure. if you want to make more money and move up the chain to senior accountant or manager or controller, you'll have to get comfortable talking to other people, other teams, and other calls.

as an example, i'm a senior accountant at a very large company. i have a monthly balance sheet call where i have to speak to actual vs forecast fluxes in my accounts, in front of 30-40 people who are at the senior manager, director, controller, and VP level.

will cbdcs make the job obsolete?

im at $95k with 4 years of experience, fully remote. over the past few weeks i've had recruiters pitch me other wfh senior accountant jobs paying $110-120k, and manager jobs $120-140k. i don't have a CPA.

the lazy ass 53 year old staff accountant types drag down the average salary.

no and neither will muh automation or muh AI or muh machine learning.

One thing I've realized in my short time working is that actual companies are so far behind what is theoretically possible with automation. The first company I worked for in 2020 had people entering data from printed invoice spreadsheets into one of those old black computer screens with green or white text where you have a blinking square cursor. Like something that could have existed in 1990 or earlier. Second job has web interfaces that look like they're from the early 2000s.

It really makes me think that most accounting jobs that aren't 100% data entry will likely still exist in 20 years

it depends on how much of an autist you are. i'm socially awkward and have social anxiety. i used to work for a big 4. if i wanted to i could have made a career there. i don't think i would have been partner/principal material but i could have made a career of it in a non-equity leadership position i imagine. but instead now i'm a software engineer, also in a leadership position. i'm pulling close to 200k per year and the hours are way less intense than accounting.

it really comes down to how good you are at camouflaging. you're an autist so you're smart enough to be able to fake it and thrive

Nice, I'm fully remote as well but honestly I am relatively lazy so I will probably stay in the 65k - 80k range for a lot longer.

>> No.50226763

You can get accounting jobs with way better hours than big 4 though. I avoided big 4 like the plague. I work fully remote usually only 40 hours a week, max like 45 hours.

crypto can’t structure a business or categorize expenses and revenue properly
there are still places out there that use fax machines, lol

No because you still have to communicate with people.
IT on the other hand...

It depends on how much of a mess the company you go to. I’m a senior accountant at Wagie Corp but for a small division that is a fucking mess. The old controller just didn’t do any work and just lied to corporate. That guy quit and then me and a few people were hired after. Shit is getting better but the Corporate VP, shits on us 24/7 and I hate it so much it’s unreal.

Make sure the company your work for us organized, that’ll make your job like 10x easier

wasn't the concern of bullshit jobs seemingly endemic in white collar structure just an symptom of tolerance, low interest rates allowed companies to half ass operations with many still operating despite not being able to turn a legitimate profit. The blessings of having a world reserve currency that's currently being threatened. Without that safeguard, the nonsense ends and tolerance for mediocrity disappears and coupled with the transition in economic structure brought with cbdcs, I couldn't help feeling a bit unsure about things

crypto might not but the foundational that drives it certainly can, that's the sole function of blockchain technology, my friend

My sister is a CPA and works for EY, she was hired making about $150k and makes over 200k now I'm pretty sure. She's a senior manager or something and had a lot of experience I guess that's why.
