what I think could genuinely help you is to look at a list of all 500 companies in the S&P500 and to look at the list of all 100 companies in the Nasdaq 100
if when going through the lists of both you find that there are companies that you would not like to be invested in, make a tally mark
then divide the tally mark by 500 for S&P500 and by 100 for nasdaq
whichever ratio is higher make your decision
if you find that you don't like 100 of the companies in the S&P500 and only 10 in the Nasdaq, then do Nasdaq
in general, when dealing with retirement, people are advised to invest in either SPY or VTI - S&P500 or total market index fund
this is the safer route
we have just gone through a period of extreme quantitative easing for over a decade, which made tech stocks outperform
any analysis that you do with portfolio backtesting will be extremely fucked due to federal reserve market manipulation
saying "Well QQQ outperformed last 10 years.." isn't really fair when looking to the future, when we are now in a cycle of monetary tightening (for now)
