You are one billion percent wrong if you think they can't crush inflation for a couple years by doing this. They do not have to get fed funds even with CPI, the leverage in the system unwinding means even a modest rate rise will inflict a comparable slowdown to what Volcker did. All signs are that they are trying to take us into a 2008-ish level decline to crush demand. We are not "there yet".

Of course, I hear the rebuttal: that sort of thing means the politicians will have to fire the printers back up for stimmies and covering the deficits, and then inflation just comes back with a vengeance unless they do meaningful austerity. Sure, fine, but that is later and for now we are pretending we can afford a recession to re-assure the jittery bond holders that we'll stop inflation and pay them positive real rates. Which we can't afford to do, but we're gonna keep those bond-bull frogs in the pot as long as we can.

Who cares about commodity prices now? Grains start being harvested in the fall (I don't have the calendars handy) and when people realize that the yields or supply just aren't as much as expected, prices will go up. Ideally you'll have exposure to the Oct/Nov contracts or so.

It is honestly for different types of people and changes depending on how the taxes are. Having dividends is fine, you never actually have to sell your stocks that way and you actively build up an income.
Once you reach a critical mass, you would probably prefer to not have any dividends at all as they are getting taxed and you reinvest it regardless.
I keep a mix of dividend paying stocks and pure growth stocks because one day, I would love to have a dividend income big enough to cover my expenses so 100% of my paycheck can go into pure growth.
Solely investing after the dividends is dumb, if a company pays $5 per dividend, but the earning per share is $3, the company will not be able to do this for long.
