My roommate is currently giving a "business" opportunity pitch to a bunch of normies who think they can get rich quick and retire early. AMA, or give me your thoughts on pyramid schemes, I'm bored

I was asked to join one once. It's pretty obvious you're being scammed when they want to hire you without even meeting you (it was over the phone). And what kind of fucking job requires you to pay them first?

If they marketed themselves as a college no one would give them shit and they’d get tax breaks.

exactly, my roommate has been doing it for about 4 months and has easily burned over a thousand dollars

A scam where you pay a bunch of guys to pay you monthly and then you pay them extra for however many guys they recruit while paying the same base price. They must also pay the people under them but less than the bonus they get for recruiting. Recruits pay you directly and you give a large fraction of that to the guys on the top level.

It's a classic pyramid scheme but normies who can't math and feel lost with their lives and lose all their friends by shilling it nonstop because of sunken cost fallacies.

two people i know from high school fell for this. They all have to work a "real" retail job just to support all the money they lose from amway.

One keeps saying how its "exponential growth.. I cant stop im about to break out and be rich"

He said in one of the conventions its an upside down pyramid -- where everyone at the bottom goes to the top. He said I wouldn't understand and that he'd have to draw it out for me.

their success is always "right around the corner", and anyone who doesn't agree with them is a loser who works a 9-5 job

You should join and try to spend absolutely no money. Use your roommates money and say you'll pay him back when you make """bank""". If he rejects then question his faith in Amway
