it's more complicated than that, this is not victoria 2, there are different type of oil, byproducts, different ways to use gas.

The us is a titan in oil refining but has been doing massive strategic retardation choices and 95% of oil refineries were built before the 1971 gold standard collapsed anyway.

Worse many refineries were only ready for memezuelan oil that is no longer coming due to communist entropy and the democrats closing the keystone pipeline managed that the canadian oil can't replace the venezuelan oil.

First they made the state oil company fire all the engineers that refused to join the commie party, most moved to leafland to work in the inner provinces, then they made the oil company to sell fuel for free internally, as the incompetence and entropy destroyed their own refineries they became dependent on texas refineries for refined fuels and oil production kept going down.

They did this until the hyperinflation started, then they started to do a lot of repression, only reason the crisis got cooler is because everyone starving left, the memezuelan refugee crisis is way way bigger than the syrian civil war one but was slided because it makes commies look bad.

Yea, but oil is a fungible good. Just because 10% goes to the EU doesn't mean if we take a metric fuckton off the market it won't spike their prices.
We sell oil to someone. If we no longer do that the people who buy oil from us will need to bid up the price on the market that is left.
