It's a good time to buy a used GPU while the miners are trying to cut their losses. But you should do the research before you buy. Don't buy the overheating crap, don't buy the cheapest one, test it in the seller PC before you pay for it. Yeah, it's not amazon, but it's a 30-50% discount. And you don't need it to last you a lifetime -- only until you sell it to the next guy.

Good cards only get to about 60-70 degrees at full load, plus they have passive mode, so the delta between idle and full load is not so big. So in normal use it isn't a big issue anymore. Running it constantly at full blast though? It will at least kill the fans, and if the miner is not smart enough to downvolt the card maybe the GPU too.

You can replace the thermal pad/paste in GPUs just like you replace thermal paste with CPUs. Which typically is the fault point in burnt cards.

A rational mind would understand that a GPU running at a stable power draw and stable temperature is more durable than a GPU rapidly changing temperature and power draw.
