Do you understand how this works?
The pumps on the day are shorts closing. What follows is people pricing in the FOMC. Which this time happens to be the fact that 75bp hike is on the table for July. Bond markets will finish pricing it in today so equities will have to fall a little.
This is what happened in May except it was 50bp hikes the bond market had to price in.

So you're saying midterm this is bullish?

>> No.49704365

Its neutral afterwards. If the fed start doing 100 bp hikes or cpi is hot in july then it will mean further repricing and dumps. If they anounce less than 75 or ease off and inflation comes in lower then it will rally

After-hours and pre-market trading volumes are too low to gather any meaningful sentiment from.

Used to think that. More often than not they are correct for opening. Doesnt predict how the session will end though. Well it kind of does, but not as well as how it will start which its pretty accurate on.

>pricing it in
I thought we priced in a 75 hike Monday and Tuesday. Bond market is melting down. Simple as. This is the big one.

Volume is low because credit is frozen. We had a glimse of this earlier this week. The meltdown has begun.

What does melting down mean?
Is it just crashing? Who buys bonds? Why is it important?

>> No.49704780

We need 10 x 100 BPs to get inflation back down to pre-covid levels, dont we?

Seems like theyre going to settle for 75 BPs and hope it gets down to 4-5% and then say thats the new norm.

Inflation is never going back to pre covid levels. The phillips curve is literally coming back to life as we speak. China aint cheap anymore. Manufacturing is coming home. Mexico isnt even as cheap as it used to be. The world was given cheap as shit labour for devades by china. Now they arent. Thats inflationary.

I dont think 2% targets are gonna be the norm. Its gonna be 3%.

Yeah man, a lot of people get out of finance because they can't understand basis points. What a bunch of retards. Nigger cattle am I right?

>> No.49705087

Ok nigger brain. The reason basis points are used is because percent doesnt mean the same fucking thing. Its for clarity when people who work with the data and policy.
“Raising the fed rate by 1%” as is commonly said literally can mean raising the existing rate of, say, 150 basis points by 1%. So a 1.5bp increase. Its not the same thing. Thats why basis points are used.

its basis of definition is a percentage you jet black gorilla nigger retard i.e. it's defined as 1/100 of 1%. it's a useless unit of measure because normalniggers and dumb jew journalists are too stupid to understand the difference between percentage and percentage points.

We're dealing with the US dude just don't bother with their retardation and make money off them.. They're still measuring distances in furlongs and all sorts of wacky shit that sounds like it's out of a harry potter novel.
