I'm trying to buy physical Palladium bars, but every single site I look at is selling them for over 2150 USD/oz while the trading price is currently down to 1800 USD/oz on exchange.

Am I just going to get fucked no matter what trying to buy physical palladium? Are PALL ETFs my only realistic option here for making a profit without waiting decades? (or at least years)

Anyone have experience buying palladium specifically? It's sold out everywhere as well. JMBullion has it for 2170 USD/oz but i was really hoping to get it for at least as low as around 2050 if i'm going to be forced to spend more than 10% over the exchange prices anyway.

are all physical precious metals for sale at jacked up prices because all of the metal vendors are pricing in significant inflation over the next year?

that's the only thing that explains why silver is being sold at 20% over the exchange price just like palladium. i get that palladium is rare, but physical silver shouldn't be this far over the exchange rate.

does anyone remember if the premium on physical metals was this high several months ago or am i just misremembering the premiums for physicals 6-12 months ago?

Also as someone pointed out in the last thread he tried to buy a 100% fake Hitler watercolor for $900 until a bunch of anons here convinced him it was completely foolish, especially given that he thought it's authenticity was assured because it was being sold on some off-brand ebay and it came with a certificate of authenticity. Hey everyone. So today I decided to sell my gold and silver as I wanted to have a bit of hands on experience doing it. While I have lost money because of selling close to spot, I can honestly say that selling to your local goldsmith/silversmith is way better that sending them to say Royal Mint. The first thing I did was look around the internet for the phone numbers of brick and mortar stores. Yell was fantastic for finding these stores. I gave a few a ring and bartered with them. As expected when selling to a dealer you're going to get under spot, but I managed to get 1% below spot which is way better than Royal Mint who were going to buy my gold and silver for 4% below spot. Everything went super smooth, put my money in the bank and now I'm going to get some double Sovereigns when the money has cleared. Hopefully it will be before the weekend so I can get them while the gold price has halted.

To plagiarize some of Pan Man's posts from yesterday
>you can never mine all the gold or silver at once, mines take years to develop, let alone actually start production. The lag time from discovery to mine is often around 10 years. Super sized mines are getting harder and harder to find too, KSM belonging to Seabridge Gold took almost 40 years to go from discovery to a soon to be producing mine, and that is a super sized project.
>that is an extremely difficult question to answer! What is the ore? is it gold quartz? carlin style? VMS? placer gold? What kind of local infrastructure is there? what kind of work force do you have access to? Just having super high grade gold ore doesnt mean shit if its at the top of a mountain with no way to get at it, or in Ugandas case stuck in the middle of nowhere with no real government control or utilities. The costs associated with getting the gold out have to make sense, and in Uganda's case, it doesnt. Here are a bunch of links showing the local government there trying to get several major copper mines back into production, and failing to find interested parties due to corruption and local unrest.
https://www.mining.com/web/uganda-seeks-investors-to-revive-copper-mine/
https://www.mining.com/uganda-to-invite-companies-to-redevelop-former-copper-mine/

Just because you have gold in the ground doesnt mean its worth going after.
I cant give you a solid answer for those numbers without knowing what the ore is like, but even so, it would take decades for Uganda to get things to the point that mining would be economically viable. Thats why their putting out feelers like this, they want companies to come in and do the work for them so they can than go in and take over later.

The Chinese struggle to even build ROADS because Africans are so difficult. The meltdown in the debt market that we all see coming will hit LONG before any major mining operations flood the market. It is literally nothing but Fud to keep you from heading to the exit. The banks need you to eat another serving of inflation and they can't steal your money if you don't own their liabilities. The whole reason metal prices are suppressed is also fud. They can't let money commodities prove themselves to be inflation hedges. There is a hard limit on how long they can do this though. Every single day that goes by people learn about metal and begin increasing their holdings. There is an exponential nature to this, as the case for metal becomes more apparent, the point of no return can approach seemingly instantly.

I really wouldnt worry too much about it, simply because even if they have the gold they say they do, its going to be years before its mined. British Columbia has some of North Americas largest gold discoveries in recent years, many multiple million ounce discoveries, but only a few of those discoveries will ever become operating mines, and many of them will become operational after the others have already been depleted.

You do extensive exploration programs! First step is identifying a targeted area for exploration using remote sensing equipment, next you pin point hot spots IDed by the sensing and do on the ground exploration / prospecting. After that, if it looks promising enough, further work such as diamond drilling locates an ore bearing structure, than further drilling outlines it and figures out if its economically viable along with a host of wider studies in labs and in office blocks.

Just finding the mine is one thing, funding its construction and getting locals to go along with it is another story.

I'm convinced that paper PMs will take a big hit soon, and if you're quick you might be able to get physical cheapies like some were prepared for in March 2020, but within days the cheap stuff disappeared and premiums ballooned. Keep in mind that fuel, equipment and labor costs for miners have risen significantly so a sustained period where PMs are priced below extraction cost is unlikely. My hunch is that a bunch of whales are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a pan-selloff to enter or add to their PM holdings so it may be a crowded trade that actual physical availability can't meet. Really don't know how it'll play out, I figure having some cash on hand to buy cheap miners and ETFs during the washout might be sound but I'm less confident that cheap physical will be freely available for all the hopeful slurpers.

anyone you'll be selling to will have a way to weigh and test the gold, so "recognizability" is irrelevant

the only real downside could be if someone only wants 24k to simplify refining; at that point though, all the Krugs, AGE's, Francs, and Sovs are screwed too

The word "Kike" comes from the fact most Ellis island jewish immigrants wouldn't sign forms with a cross, but a circle or "kikel". The slur comes from rejection of the cross.

Many Hebrew schools don't use + signs for addition, but rather the "up-tack" ⊥ sign instead since it doesn't look like a cross.

The talmud has a part where they claim Jesus burns in boiling shit in hell forever, despite the Jews not really believing in an afterlife and instead just an eternal sleep. Yes, they really made up an entire fanfiction afterlife hell for their religion that doesn't have one so that they can condemn Jesus to it. They're that petty.

Pay attention to the language used in most (((movies))) nowadays. The term "Jesus Christ" is never used as an object of affection. They can only perceive his name as a vulgarity. Nobody says "Siddharta Fucking Guatama" or "Muhammadamnit".

I don't personally agree with putting portrayals of Jesus on money since money is an often dirty thing, Christ even taught "The love of money is the root of all evil" but the kvetching and reeing is hilarious.

The thing that killed the gold standard was WW1. Almost every nation on Earth bankrupted itself, and every nation's individual needs had them pursuing wildly different monetary policies that often clashed with one another.
Also, going back onto the gold standard after WW1 was incredibly deflationary relative to the amount of debt in the economy. The government had to revalue gold from $20.67 to $35 and destroy the people's purchasing power just to get the economy stabilized.
This shit is going to happen again. If you gold commodities outside of the banking system you can avoid this inevitable hit.

No, not everyone will have a way to weigh and test a coin and some will not want to deal with the inconvenience. Even more important is knowing the composition of the coin. Coins with weight and purity stamped on the coin are best. It would be hard to convince someone that there is X grams of gold in this European coin that they have never seen before and can’t even locate the country on a map. It’s fine to collect but the bulk of your stack should be modern from your government’s mint. Those coins have the highest trust and recognizability amongst people you may be trading with. Depends on how much money you're willing to spend. It's literally just a service some of the most reputable mints offer. Usually it's a big corporation or a non-profit that wants a medal or coin made for employees, anniversaries or customers/donors. You send a sketch or idea to the mint, they take care of the rest for you. Costs a bunch of money but there is zero risk or hassle. I know the Austrian Mint is one that offers full service (where their own sculptors do drafts for you, then make the die in-house and mint it for you with their own material), but there's probably others.
The more money you want to save, the sketchier it gets with having to hire your own sculptors or even die-makers.

Gold been doing this for a while now. Peter Schiff explained it fairly well. The market is doing everything opposite of what you think it's supposed to do. Traders and algorithms are only looking one step ahead.

Rates going up means the FED is getting closer to capitulating, which means buy gold.

Rates going down/stagnating means the FED is going to hike again soon, so sell gold.

I just saw a blurb about the Ugandan (kek) find today and the numbers at first blew my mind because it appeared to be such an obvious fraud, dwarfing that of BRE-X. However, I guess 320,000 tons of ore includes the mass of all the relatively worthless rock as well as the precious metals?

For what it's worth, for readers here interested in another unit comparison, 320,000 troy ounces of gold is approximately 10 metric tons. The US has over 8,000 metric tons of gold and the EU probably has a similar quantity. If all of the gold from that Ugandan find were acquired by the US, the US's gold reserves would increase by less than 0.125%.

The above number also assumes an insanely generous 31 grams of gold per ton of earth moved. More typical yields are on the order of 12 grams of gold (these are getting hard to find) per ton of earth moved or less (New Gold's Rainy River is clocking in at something like 3 grams if I remember correctly).

Final thing about the Ugandan find is that it is announced by two highly corrupt, perfidious countries: Uganda and China. It's possible that there is absolutely zero gold there at all and this is nothing but a fishing expedition to suck in capital from other mining companies.

Heh. Captcha is 0PMPM (Other People's Money).

Picked up pic related on Ebay for right around spot. The diamonds shine like the headlights of a car.

Vintage longings with iced dial with 55g of 14k gold, quartz movement, and basically never worn. Almost NOS condition. Only a few scratches on the back of the case. The seller said it was in his dad's safe since 1970.

Wearing gloves because I'm not sure if I should resell it or wear it. It fits perfect and in summer with a white polo I feel like the richest guy in the world.

Paid $2400 CAD with no tax and it came with an appraisal for 10K (accurate IMO since I've seen similar ones go for around that).

I'll be watching for more information about this gold find but 320,000 metric tons is gold is 20x the total amount of gold bullion owned by the US and the EU combined. I *very* seriously doubt you are correct because I am unaware of any bona fide gold bonanza in history that was of that size. Being aware of the BRE-X mess, I watch this with a jaundiced eye.

Checked meadbro, eBay is tough if you don't have lots of hands-on experience so while I wish ya luck you should look for estate sales at www.estatesales.net like I've been recommending lately and try to find it even cheaper IRL. $2.16/ozt for almost 2 kilos was my last haul, and while not typical it's not really remarkable either. I've heard stories of people finding hundreds of ounces for practically nothing.

Maybe I'm eccentric but I love those old vintage gold watches. You can still find them here or there but most have been melted already. Lots of them were very high end and the finishing on them can be out of this world. You never see the kinds of textures on new stuff that you see on watches from the 70s and 80s. Makes it shine nice in the sun.

Can one of you Americans post that US coin chart value per gram on the various years summary pic please. I use the Brit one all the time, but I branch out into the odd American coin. I pick up the odd cheap 64 Kennedy and mercs when they are listed badly on eBay but it would be handy to just be able to see the summary. Ta muchly.

I’ll probs go buy another Morgan at the coin shop next week. Would one with a mint mark for New Orleans be better than the unspecified version?

Yeah, figured as much. I got a 1896 phillie. The UK shop had maybe 8 or so when I went, then a few less on a visit the second time. At time or purchase I only knew it was a Morgan dollar and just bought the one with the most pleasant fading as the prices only fluctuated between £25-32. Mine was 28. Posted on the other thread. They did have a 1890 -O so I’ll maybe buy that If it’s still there next Thursday. (Also need some sleeves for all my goldbacks)

The entire Mount Everest weighs 0.8 trillion tons lmao. They reported 31 million tonnes of gold ore, not trillion.
Even if we assume extremely generously that they have the most saturated ore ever by far - 2 ounces per tonne - that's a total of 1758 tons of gold. Literally nothing in the grand scheme.
