Thats already the case for the last decade for me. Apply to a job that requires no experience or very little. Dont get it or even an interview. I realized what was going on, likely many people with a decades experience applying for jobs that they are significantly overqualified for.

To some extent maybe, but there is definitely a demographics factor that's still going to make getting a job easier. A lot of old experienced workers retired early into covid, and college admissions are way down so degrees will get some of their worth back. In addition to this, the population is weighted towards the older side

Warehouse jobs become very competitive during recessions. The amount of goods that are shipped is severely reduced so obviously the workload decreases. Back in 2008 when I worked in a large warehouse about 30% of the people were laid off and there was a hiring freeze for like 3 years. Some of my former colleagues who were laid off had to settle for even worse jobs because the situation was the same for pretty much all warehouses in the country. Despite the employment freeze we got like 50 applications every week from people who were desperate for a job

State Govt worker. Started in 2005. 2008 was just another year for me. I did buy a house though cheap as hell due to the fallout. 2020 came, got paid to stay home. Did that for little over a year. Got free money tossed at me 3 times during that period. (Thanks Fed Govt). Also got a promotion. Now I'm getting an 8% raise come july and up to an 12% one next year due to the state being flush with fed govt money. No student debt,no auto loans, no c.c debt either.
