So you put in the order and decide a tip amount in advance despite not knowing whether the delivery person is going to do a good job on your order or spit on it? You won't be charged for the tip until you rate the driver or 24 hours have passed.

On the drivers side of the app they can see your order come in as an alert. It would list the restaurant, distance, standard payout, and tip. If they don't see a tip they can press "not accepted" or ignore it.

I don't employ any delivery people but I do employ a bunch of servers. I can tell you from personal experience that the average consumer whines more about the price of their burger than almost anything else in the world (the only exception is gas). If we increase the price of everything on our menu by a dollar to pay our workers more then I'll have to listen to dozens if not hundreds of furious soccer moms bitching about the "outrageous" and "unacceptable" price increases. Half of them will keep coming anyway, the other half will fuck off to McDonald's or wherever the hell else. I can't even raise prices by ten cents without some elderly cunt who studies the menu religiously noticing and whinging about it. You can get around this somewhat by slapping a % gratuity on the bill (used to be popular with some retards who couldn't do the mental math but the prevalence of smartphones made it easier for everyone) but they'll notice eventually and start spending less or stop coming entirely. Customers are happiest when the total they see on their bill is low, fuck everything else. Ironically, many of the ones who complain the most about prices actually pay more when they tip willingly than when it's forced on them, but they don't notice because it wasn't printed on the bill.

And at the end of it all, our servers typically make far more on busy nights from generous drunks tipping $50's than they do when the gratuity is included (because for some reason nobody remembers to tip at a party, and if the host remembers then it's usually an insultingly small $10 or some shit). Plus we can often "forget" to report cash tips and give it back under the table.

Tldr: don't know about delivery, but our servers are better off with tips than without. I know that's not true everywhere, but it is for many other places like ours.

I work part-time as a pizza delivery driver. Most people that don't tip on the card tip in cash so it doesn't get taxed. Some people don't tip but I get paid anyways so it is what it is. This is the fault of the delivery apps. They never tell you that you're actually bidding with the drivers to deliver your order. The customer just thinks that they're paying Uber Eats and that's why there's a $20 "delivery fee", which the driver gets almost none of. Those people didn't think they needed to tip when they're already paying a ridiculous "delivery fee", that is almost as much as their meal usually. The apps never tell you that the driver isn't getting shit and you have to tip or no one is going to pick up your food.

Tipping culture is jews convincing employees that the customers are the ones shitting on them by not paying and not the employer, so the employees lash out against the customers and the employer gets none of the financial or social liability.

Grubhub almost encourages the employees and the customers to fight because some jew allowed the customer to go back and edit their tip after the order has been delivered.
