I would argue that bitcoin is going to be the gold standard that the United States had before we switched to straight fiat.

In other words, because of it's limited supply, just like gold, and being the first of it's kind, it is going to be the face of future cryptocurrencies, and will hold the market up simply for the fact that it will become scarce once all the coins are mined.
