On the whole I'm happy with it. Faces on the middle and right woman are a bit manly and the design doesn't pop as much as I was hoping but it's still a beautiful piece.

Maybe the pandabashing is FUD but I've seen gobs of chinese fakes over the years, some are quite good. I haven't really seen many with convincing wear and don't remember any fakes with light circulation dings, which this Peso seems to display on the obverse and rim. Not a "reputable" dealer as they would never sell it for less than 100 but no red flags either, probably just someone selling a coin grandpa gave them too cheap. First coin I've bought in months, been sticking to cheapie scrap almost entirely lately. Good luck stacking anon!

My personal recommendation is buy as close to spot as you can until you get to around 80-100oz of silver. This means mainly generic bars and rounds, with higher-weight bars generally having lower premiums. Every 20oz or so of generic I buy a numismatic piece to keep the demon at bay, but mainly care about weight:cost. If you're buying from your LCS you won't need to worry about getting fakes, as they would go out of business quickly if word got out they were doing such a thing.

If you're stacking for weight, which it sounds like you are, you're going to be buying the cheapest options available for their metal content. This usually means generic rounds, maple leafs, or UK brits. ASEs (american silver eagles) generally command a higher premium than other coins for a couple reasons, but, broadly speaking, you should stick to whatever you can get on the cheap. Kind of. Something that might be reliably blue chip might be very volatile in the extreme short term due to current events. You have to understand that traders like him arent just buying/selling. He's also making calls, puts, trading on margin, shorting longing etc. A particular stock youre trading against might go up 10 cents, liquidate your position and then go down. You might have been correct in assuming it would go down but if its too volatile it can go up or down at a moments notice. In my experience at gun shows and in LCS's, old people enjoy talking to younger guys who are into the same hobbies as them. It makes sense, seeing your hobby passed on to the younger generations and all. If you display a genuine interest and let them chat your ear off you may make some fascinating connections, and at the very least you'll probably learn something about the hobby. I go to gun shows expecting to see most booths with outrageous prices, and therefore I don't walk in expecting to spend too much. My LCS owner has had a booth at the Summer FUN before and he told me there isn't a single gold/silver anything that you can't find at it, so if you have your eyes on a unique piece you can't find on online then this may be the spot you locate it, just prepare to haggle/accept a high price. Precious metals are stupid. First, they are worthless with no industrial applications that copper can't do better. At the rate they're being mined, and with how much is left in the Earth's crust, they will be worthless by 2030. I mean you will literally be able to get paid hauling silver out of people's basements. Second, asteroid mining is coming which will easily quadruple the supply. If you're there near closing or on the last day know that some dealers are much more willing to haggle and sell cheap just to move inventory and boost their cash flow than they will be on opening day morning. Really? That's weird i never got any issue dealing with them, i ordered a dozen times from them over the years and never had to complain. I often had to wait between 3 days and a week, but never more.

These fuckers sold way more metals than what they had in stocks and it backfired big time during the early scamdemic run on gold and silver.
On top of that, all online sellers had their calculating algos being (spot+1.5/2€ premium per oz), and when it plunged for a day to $12 is when i went all in. Got 20kg for 14€/oz. But they themselves couldn't order at those prices later on as it bounced back very quickly, and they had to modify their price algos afterward to avoid this situation in the future. But this one day, big stores lost a shit ton of money.

Anyway, always refused their offers. Always told them to fuck off and gimme my shiners.
In the end, they didn't even send me the bars, i had to move to their store to get it, and it wasn't even the bars i asked for! But at this point i simply was happy to get my hands on the metal and gave up asking for the brand i ordered.
I left the worst evaluation possible on every consoomer website i could find tho. :)

I'd say the Bri'ish sov is distinct enough for the label to only refer to them. They also have different weight AND purity standards than LMU coins (sovs are actual 22 karat vs LMU's 90% or 21.6k).
Most franc coins in existence also do not feature an actual sovereign on any of its sides.

Buy stuff that changes designs from year to year: Somali elephants, Canadian Wildlife, Australian kookaburras or koalas, island nations' series, etc. These become series.
- Buy pieces that appeal to your sense of art, taste, and interests! These will still feel good even if the price or value of the PM goes nowhere. Caveat: if you go to sell, it's harder to part with them.
- Some beautiful generics are priced comically high (Germanias, e.g.) - they don't follow the market trends as readily, and usually garner highest resale price only for a few years after the mintage. The drawback: dealers may treat and price these as "generic" and offer only their standard buyback price as generic.
- If free shipping is offered, buy enough to take advantage of that. Although it's shipping (not directly PM), it's an added premium.
- Keep a spreadsheet of your purchases!!! You should track profit/loss over time. It's quite revealing.
