Tell the hospital that you don't have insurance. They intentionally jack up the prices because that's what insurers will pay, it's not what they expect the patient to pay. You can probably get it down to less than half of whatever it currently is.

i havn't heard of it.
i'm pretty sure medical bills get a fed payout.
if they did you would have time to shield your assets. if your bill is less than the cost of a months worth of work for those lawyers they probably won't.

it's horseshit that subhuman filth get free healthcare based on your taxes and they want to make your standard of living lower than theirs, all the while importing millions more a year who also get free everything.

i wouldn't feed their system that fucks over workers and gives to useless criminals who make life worse. i'm honestly eyeing the door these days. either join the SS when hyperinflation hits or move to a 3rd world undeveloped spot that doesn't have oil or rare earth minerals. should be shooting fish in a barrel to leverage brains to make a living.

why don't you have insurance? if it's because you previously had insurance but your insurance hasn't kicked in at your new job yet, you might be able to retroactively purchase COBRA coverage.

>> No.49367283

No dude, it doesn't work that way. If you don't pay the hospital by a certain time, the debt is sold to a collection agency, and only in extreme cases does a debt collector sue the person who owes them money. The reason for that is simple. They know they can't get blood from a stone. They bought your debt for cheap and all they want to do is recoup a little more than their investment. So what they'll do 99% of the time is simply harrass you, or your family, on the phone to try to get you to pay something. You can work out a payment plan in order to pay back far less than 50% of what you owe. Make up a sob story. Tell them about some pills you have to take and you can't work any more. They will work with you.

OP, I had 150k debt for a 1 day surgery. I didn't qualify for medicaid or financial assist because I made just enough
>look into medical debt charity
this took off around 50k alone I had to give them a lot of information but eventually it went through
>call them or walk in and explain the situation
calling them usually didnt do jackshit but initially they wrote off around 45k. I had to actually go to the hospital and speak to someone in their financial dept and explain I was fucked. I lucked out with a woman who cared and she dropped the remainder 50k to around 4k that I put $50 a month into
>unforseen medical
I got a lot of separate bills relating to anesthesia, the initial ambulance ride, and random bills for anywhere from $200-1900 that I either negotiated or I just paid. It's all a fucking scam but you can get through it if you dont want the chance of them garnishing your wages or fucking your credit. On top of the massive compensation we get over yuropoors, even post obamacare, the vast majority of insurance is tied to your employer.
Anyone with enough human capital to actually have gainful employment; i.e., not serving plates of goyslop to obese boomers, has a good health insurance policy to avoid these situations.

Ask for an itemized bill, it should be reduced

THEN ask for a cash discount. It should be reduced

THEN ask for MORE off. Doing these things can lower your bill dramatically.

If you still can’t pay they will send the already reduced bill to collections. Sometimes agencies will put it on your credit report sometimes they won’t.

When it goes to collections try to settle for 50 percent. Keep calling, keep negotiiating. Most placrs will only settle for 20-30 percent off the top so you may have to settle for that.

Remember it’s against the law for them to lie to you. Ask them if they will report the debt to credit beurues. If not, it can sit there as long as you’d like without effecting you.

If you mention a lawyer or litigation they will stop talking to you and refer you to their legal team where they will take you to court if the balance is big enough. Don’t do this unless you truly believe they’re scamming you or pulling some shady shit.
