49291065 No.49291065 [Reply] [Original]

Is the metaverse the future of just a meme? I'm kicking myself that I flirted with the idea of buying bitcoin over a decade ago.

Is this another one of those moments?

I used to think it was ridiculous.

> "LMAO, who the hell is going to spend money on 'digital' products? Its not even real"

Then I started to see how much these Zoomer faggots spend all their pocket money on buying their Fortnite characters new hats!

Is it the future, or just FOMO kicking in?

Im thinking about Virtual real-estate.

Just gotta make sure I pick the correct metaverse. Whatever one becomes the dominant one.

back then bitcoin was a completely new concept. Metaverse, however, is a recycled concept which appears to be new.

Newfag. Cryptographic currency was a thing since the mid 90s. Bitcoin only solved the decentralised duplication problem.

The main problems with the metaverse is inability to tap directly into human senses (i.e. Neuralink) and you have to instead hook into the sensory organs. Whoever can solve the direct sensory data delivery problem will being upon the next major paradigm shift.

>> No.49292141

It’s going to get big.

Being able to participate in online communities and games where you KNOW that the things belong to you and can’t be cucked out from underneath you, traded or used as keys to get extra perks (eg, OG badges, CSGO operation things n shit) they will have value and a whole economy will grow around it.

The engine of this economy will be, ENJ - quite literally, the engine.

Or they could just make the graphics not look like shit and fill it up with interesting stuff and it would probably be something people would spend time in. Something like that Matrix Awakens unreal demo if you've seen that.

It might be. But what will you buy to get exposure to it exactly?

Yes but it won't be anything paradigm shifting (ala Bitcoin). Sure you could have WoW with UE5 graphics and all collectables tracked on a blockchain but it will be just that - a game with good graphics and blockchain technology - nothing special.

Pro tip: won't happen. The current state of tech and knowledge about human biology is vastly overestimated. Add to that the possible moral concerns + objections and it's simply not profitable enough to justify R&D costs.

prime virtual real estate.

Or just buy all the trinkets and shit like in the real world. Like people who bought trading cards and Star wars figures, etc when it wasnt that big a deal.

You can probably buy some virtual limit edition shit now which will become valuable collectors items, etc when the Metaverse takes off.

You'll have items from the before times. Very rate commodities. People make millions from antiques, etc, Its just a virtual version of that.

I don’t know what to do here outside of crypto. I’ll be monitoring the thread.

However, if you want some meta crypto currency then try REQ. Yes, I know, it has its history but it will be big in the metaverse. Same with XTZ and Jasmy.

Good luck everyone

even in some games like Runescape, if you have 'classic' versions of things, you can sell them for boat-loads.

If the metaverse if just starting, maybe you can start 'investing' in virtual items while they are cheap. Stores are starting to buy virtual shops on there. Imagine having the first ever version of Nike Jordans for your avatar.

I think there will be plenty of opportunities to bank for the savvy early adopter.

As far as I know, there are a few metaverses about. I think as it takes off even more will sprout up. However, just like with Social media sites, retail sites, crypto, one eventually dominates and becomes the 'de facto' version.

That has happened yet, so if you have your finger on the pulse, maybe you can become the one too see the writing on the wall and get there before the riff raff do and position yourself nicely.

In these early stages, just get your fingers in as many pies as possible

I'm aware of the limitations of our understanding of Human biology and brain chemistry. But you have to admit, it's the obvious next step after VR. You already have risky venture being pumped into BCI (brain computer interface) projects with the obvious one being Neuralink.

As far as the moral concerns / objections are concerned; if there is one thing that I've learned in the past 20 years is that you can get normies to normalize anything you want as long as you pay the correct media people and the right politicians. 20 years ago I would have thought it would never be allowed for private companies to put microphones and cameras in every home feeding data straight to a central NSA spy server, but it happened. No one thought we would forcefully inject untested experimental vaccines to the entire population, but it happened. There is very little which cannot be justified through some clever media dissemination and manipulation and full duplex BCIs will be no different.

This is like saying the obvious next step after the car is to graft wheels and an engine on a human.

>> No.49294677

>>49293925
Inserting data into the senses isnt the important step that makes VR viable. Don't get me wrong, writing data into the human brain is basically reacching the singularity since we can increase human learning capabilities by unimaginable magnitudes.

For VR the important part is to have a better input mechanism for controls. Putting on headphones and gluing screens to your head is perfectly serviceable to feed you information, but you are basically still some dude standing in a room with dongles in his hand and crappy motion tracking. Reading and inhibiting motor controls to the muscles is how you would make VR amazing

Thats the thing. I'mm a oldfag, and the number of times I've said "no way would anyone do that" and been proven to be wrong is more times than I can count.

Shit, I remebber when Faceberg first launched and, and me an my tech friends were convinced no one would voluntarily give their name and personal details to a website on the internet, and now look at us.

Same with Metaverse. Seems literally retarded to spend money on 'virtual' things, but after seeing how people pretty much will do as theyre told, as well as how Zoomers buy virtual shit already like its nothing, I can actually see it happening.

Start investing now, and when those zoomers become middle aged earners, people wont be thinking twice before spending money on Metaverse things. Just need to position yourself now to benefit. Its not gonna be a get rick quick activity, but start sowing your oats now and it could be big

>> No.49296400

>>49296069
The bigger question is which Metaverse project to actually invest in - unfortunately as is the case with pretty much everything, the first people to find the space are charlatans and scammers like Earth2 and even the ones with good intentions have a lot to learn and a lot of losses to face like Axie Infinity.

It's incredibly hard to separate the noise from the good projects.

>> No.49296628

>>49296400
Thats the key really. Like investing in any new industry, you gotta learn the industry and get an understanding of the players and the trends and try to pivot accordingly.

Over time, one or a small number of verses will dominate, and if you've been watching the space keenly, you should be able to get onboard before the rest of the shit-munchers, which is where the big bucks are.

The signs are already there, and the concept is starting to be pushed by the narrative. Big companies are starting to buy virtual real estate. Its kind of like the green energy meme. Even though its pretty much all bullshit, when the big boys start to push it, you know its gonna happen. That's because businesses and governments had invested literal trillions into the endeavour.
