Also, reminder not to expect any announcements today. Devcon presentations are very technical and directed at the developers.

Any pump will probably be followed by a dump. The future of Link's price will only begin to reveal itself after the fork.

It's pumping as much as the next alt, not much actual mooning. Holding up it's value at 2x ICO next to KNC.

>> No.4182113

>>4182047
That's the thing. Problem is I bought in at 8.3k and anything I sell will be a loss for that. I'm balancing my optimism that it will get to that again, and also trying to make some gains from a pump. I don't like trading when I will be selling at a loss. It's a psychological thing--in real terms I have lost it already, but I cannot let go of that.

>> No.4182166

>> No.4182176

>>4182113
Yeah I have definitely been much more wary of trading since I bought in at 6.2k. It was easy to trade when it was above my buy in price since even if I made a mistake and it mooned without me I still had a profit. Now if it moons after a trade then I really am at a loss.

>> No.4182203

Do you need the money RIGHT NOW to live? If not just chill. It will go above 8.3k. It may be a while but I would eat my own dick if it didn't.

>> No.4182205

>>4182176
What you did was rational. Link is worth a lot more than 6.2k but.....the fork. All alts got rekt. Chainlink and KNC were least rekt of the new alts.youll make a profit if you hold until middle of 2018

Oh absolutely! I own a hardware wallet. I was more asking as a preparation for any price increases. The waiting and anxiety of the moment can cause mistakes. If there is a realistic expectation of a pump and correction, then it might be worth it to increase my position? Is what I'm saying. I'm just trying to gauge what everyone else is doing. I did buy it with BTC I got with fiat.

Trading and investing are different. I think of Link as an investment.

If I were thinking of swing trading, I'd look at technical indicators like EMAs and MACD. I recommend the books by Alex Elder as a good starting point.

The whole point is to have a system and not trade with emotions.

Also, if you're playing the crypto game, you gotta look at BTC as an index that affects everything else.

Most of you guys didn't listen as well. I'll stay ITT for hours after the conference and I'll expect "I should have listened" replies to this post when LINK drops to ~14-13 cents again after Sergey didn't announce anything.

You're forgetting about being added to new exchanges, whale pumps etc. Why is it ChainLink is being put through high standards such as 100% completing the product when literally almost every alt that mooned didnt have a finished product? Total double standards for alts.

Because most hype and pumps are based upon potential future revenue and market cap based on the markets the cryptos target.

Usually they will target a business or segment of market that already exists centralized and then investors take a look at the revenue that market makes. Look at competition and then if the potential is conventially big the coin gets hyped and pumped.

With ChainLINK this is really hard to do. Why? Because they aren't really targeting a conventional market that already exists. Sure some niche applications are being made by oracles and there is some money to already make with it but that doesn't justify the current market cap of ChainLINK.

You need to truly understand the technology behind LINK and what kind of businesses it will make possible as a middleware platform to really know how much value ChainLINK actually adds.

People will only start to hype it around I'd guess June 2018 because the very first real implementations of ChainLINK will start around that time and conventional investors will get to see the added value of the platform.

Also if you are a trader it's best to focus on short-term milestones such as ARK releasing their mobile wallet in 2 weeks which is also a reason for the lack of investment and interest in LINK right now. People want quick money and don't want to keep holding a thing for a long time without profit since they'd lose a lot of money on opportunity cost.

Welcome to crypto. You'll learn all of these lessons with time.

Ahh thats because you're focusing on the financial institutions. Even in the midterm if projects like Request Network announce that they are going to use ChainLink like Confido then you can expect it to moon earlier. If an exchange like Bittrex adds this, you can also expect it to moon.

You're trying to say that only better alternative to holding LINK is to chase short term pumps like Ark. That should really only apply for active traders not holding mid-term. Alts dont pump exclusively when the product is almost finished, by that time you are already too late.

He's not saying you should chase pumps. He's saying that people chasing pumps on other projects (like ark) will cause a hypeless coin (LINK) to lose value.

I'm not focusing on financial institutions at all. I was thinking about Request network, Confido and possibly 0x when typing that out. They will have their implementation in Q2-Q3 2018. Other startups will also implement their use of chainlink in this timeframe.

Omise Go is overvalued for what it is. Look at the amount of competition they face. To be honest the only real reason they gained this much is because Vitalik is on their board of advisors. I made money from OMG because I know it would be hyped but you'd be crazy to hold it right now. They have no justification to being worth that much.

I think I'm going for the middleground. Buy a set amount of Link which I'll not be touching in a while.

And if the price gets low enough, buy some more to trade with when it mini-moons in case of new exchanges etc.

Im starting to agree, this guy knows what hes talking about. Anyway if i hold LINK till 2019 do you think I'll make it? Kek. Doing what you guys are doing is really stressful for me so holding long term is the only thing i can do given that I have nightshift jobs etc.

I bought it yesterday at 2.09. Wait for a small dip to buy in. I suspect everyone buying in now is buying for the mobile wallet release and will dump immediately afterward so be sure to also dump immediately when the mobile wallet releases.

Competition will eat their volume over time the technology behind OmisGo is not even the best so it is inevitable in the long run that they will decline.

Yes, but it doesn't happen in a vacuum. You seem like an experienced trader. You don't believe in pump and dumps, whales or price manipulation? If the sort of behavior traders like Wyckoff described is real for big marketcap stocks, it's only even more significant in crypto.

Also, like someone said further down this thread, not everyone wants to be a swing trader.

If you'd posted on /biz/ in 2020 saying you are holding 10,000 LINK they'd accuse you of LARPing that should answer your question.

The moon will be a bumpy ride though and you'll lose out on a lot of potential money by just holding LINK.

But yeah everyone secretly knows LINK is the next big thing here. There's a reason its so much talked about no matter if FUD or otherwise.

Sell chainlink now.
Buy salt. Sell half of salt in january at 6x current price. Put 1/3 of that into chainlink (which will still be close to current price).

You now have the same amount of chainlink, a decent amount of SALT that will continue to rise and some funds to put into other tokens you think are lambo worthy (focus on those that will moon the soones with lowest risk of project failure).

Salt is launching their lending platform sometime in late november or in december. It provides an indisputably useful way to loan money with cryptocurrency and blockchain assets as collateral.

Cashing out = pay gains taxes. Taking a loan doesn't lead to that. Hodlers who believe in high gains would rather pay interest on a loan than cashing out if they want to buy something irl.

The company itself will sell tokens directly if customers want to buy them. Currently at a price of 25USD per token, and depending on token supply and prices of tokens "in the wild" (exchanges), they will raise the direct-sale token price.

Salt currently sits at ~2.5USD.

The token will be used in 2 ways:
1: Spent to unlocks the ability to take loans in various size tiers.
2: Spent to reduce interest rates.

Token supply will steadily decrease and the prices increase as people buy up SALT to use the platform. They are planning to increase the price roof on salt (the price they themselves sell salt for) over time. I'm guessing when free-market salt gets close to SaltLending sold salt, they will gradually increase the price, as they won't have incentive to do so before that.

There's too much to say everything you should go read up. It's probably one of the few projects that might actually move upwards due to a finished project meaning the token has actual non-speculatory value any time soon.

Good post. Bullish on Salt but there are still some pitfalls you need to take into consideration.

There are better ways to avoid taxation such as starting a company and you "selling" your crypto to your own company then you let that company take losses and write it off against tax.

So the tax loop Salt provides is more for small to middle sized tax dodgers. Which is still OK but not as big as it could be.

The other pitfall is that some countries might straight up regulate Salt's options away which investors will know and thus be slightly wary when buying salt or only have a small % of their portfolio in Salt due to this risk.

The market cap of 100 million is a bit on the high side for what it has right now but I agree that it will pump when they launch their actual platform.
