From the looks of it, one big whale dumped all of his bag and that caused a wave of panic selling, along with plenty of buying scooping up the cheap coins.

I hold some BURN, and I don't intend on selling any at all because one guy decided to dump and plummet the market one evening. The way I see it, it'll most likely bounce back by tomorrow afternoon, if not sooner. Plus the devs are implementing TOR trials on Wednesday, so I'll sell what I have at a loss if, and only if, the weekend rolls around with little to no recovery - which I highly doubt will be the case.

I can't even grasp the purpose of altcoins in long run. They just seem to be test coins that sometimes provide new features.. and if those features prove to be any good, they can be implemented in bitcoin. They are not used or accepted by anyone, no one is building software for them, no one is investing any money in software companies related to the altcoins.. There is not fucking way they would work in the long run, so why the fuck do they have any value?

There really isn't one. The positives I can see is that with developers competing for good sounding news to drive up speculative prices of their coins, they develop a lot of features in this competition.
But in the end they're all just p&d vehicles.

What the fuck is going on with Litecoin?

The golden standard for LTC to BTC ratio has always been 0.25. Even in the Dogecoin hype days LTC kept this ratio. Sure it went up and down little by little, but it's never been this low.

You don't seem to understand that putting faith in system because "it be useless and retarded to do so" is retarded on it's own.

The protocol would have to PREVENT this from happening not us placing hope in hands of a centralised entity that they will not be "retarded".

Also, Paypal is centralised just like Bitcoin. Except it's not some anonymous chicken neck bastard running the pool who might fuck things up at any moment.

Listen faggot, it is against Ghash's interests to perform a 51%, THEY SELL GH FOR BTC. If they attempt to double spend or do a differentiation IT IS BAD FOR THEM, they will lose all the CREDIBILITY they have and go BANKRUPT. The entire Bitcoin community has their fucking eyes on them, if something happens it's THE END for Ghash, you can be sure resourceful insiders will spend their hard earned Bitcoin to DDoS the shit out of them and put them out of business. What part of this is so hard to understand?

Ghash won't ever do shit if they go above 51% again. If an "individual" is willing to spend millions in mining hardware to attempt to double spend? Yeah I agree with you, but it is highly unlikely someone will spend their hard earned Bitcoins or cash to setup a mining farm which costs MILLIONS to simply try and double spend a few coins.

I get it you don't like Bitcoin but fuck off with your FUD, I'm tired of paranoic faggots like you who only spread FUD instead of riding the hype and making money. Oh and for the record those 120 BTC I have were earned TRADING, if I spent more than 1000$ on Bitcoin it is already pushing it hardcore.

Stopped reading?

Are you really using such a retarded argument when discussing a protocol?

You are a fucktard and deluded bagholder.

It's laughable really.

Also, here are reasons why it's will ruin BTC sooner or later:
1) Pool owner does it because he can (just like Snowden or Manning leaked army docs)
2) Pool owner gets pressured to do it
3) Pool gets hacked

Legitimate reasons. And plenty of them.

Bitcoin = Dead.

If every miner switches to a p2pool the problem instantly vanishes. p2pool is the full solution - it is a truly decentralized mining pool with no central control. Singularity - tiny supply.. 2.2 final supply with like less than a hundred k out now, godly spec with hybrid algo using both scrypt and x13 allowing gpus to mine it, sell your house for it right now, recently added to bittrex. I havent gone all in yet... watching it trade but I know its going to explode in price in the coming days weeks months just given its volume, specs, and the dev team which is incredibly active

seems incredibly undernoticed so far... tiny market cap for a coin w a unique build good dev team and sweet name

Give it a little time. There are plenty of great sites that aren't scams. I've done tons of cool stuff with cryptocurrencies and never lost anything. It is still so new and tiny in the grand scheme of things that most older people will write it off because they dont have the time or the critical thinking/understanding of value to self-police these types of things with research and a self-reliant additude when it comes to consumer protection. If you are involved with crypto right now you are not normal... you are an outlier participating in the infancy of an emergent evolution in one of society's most important foundations: value transfer/money.

Although I do think sports betting and gambling will be some of the first things that attract normal people to crypto because degenerate gamblers and/or career gamblers have an overlap with the type of thinking and mind that is drawn to crypto in a lot of ways and if you build something good they will come.

take doge-dice for example. that was one of the most innovative and well designed gambling platforms to ever grace the internet. its closure is really behind doge's accelerated demise of the last week because about 3% of coins were invested there. where else can you crowdsource a cryptographically secure casino bankroll and allow investors to get that sort of return

then theres sites like directbet where having crypto allows you to make bets without even having to register for the site on a huge array of sporting bets. its easy to imagine how good that could get if it had more competition and even 2% of the market share of fiat sportsbooks

money in money out in minutes. it's insane. it beats the shit out of gambling with fiat

porn is also another one that will get people to do it because it beats credit card for anonymity (and security... porn sites often route money through tax havens and banks will shut off cards for it on concerns of identity theft. they also "lose" data sometimes im sure
