Hi guys,

i wrote a cocktail menu for a new bar I was working at, however due to it being a crap place to work I want to leave, and I don't want them using the cocktail menu I wrote for them.

is there a way I can prevent them from using something I designed and wrote myself?

yes. all you have to do is tell them to stop. bringing a gun with you usually helps.

I don't see how, you wrote it for them whilst in their employ, only angle I see unfortunately is that they could prevent you from using it elsewhere, but not the other way around

Since this is an ancap society you just need to let them know you're taking the cocktail menu with you, and any reusage of your intellectual property is warrant for a mini nuke and for you to enslave their first borns. Should work out.

Good question, I'm not sure about how stuff like this works. My gut tells me that your company has exclusive rights to whatever you created while you were on their payroll, but I'm not sure.

It would be one thing if you wanted to use the same cocktail menu elsewhere, they probably couldn't stop you, but if you want them to stop using the one you made for them out of spite, lol there is no way that's going to happen. Matter of fact, only some lowlife bartender would have such a ridiculous idea.

Now make me a negroni and it better be good or else you get no tip.

Should have used a Smart Contract anon. Sorry.

Depends on country, but work product in these cases , regardless if size needs to be registered to release it from their care or have them pay a form of royalty.

Are you fucking high bro? Entitled millenial? Honestly take a contract law class at a college or something, it will open your eyes a lot to how the world works. And no you have no fucking recourse and you shouldn't even want any recourse unless you're a petty little bitch.

Did you sign some kind of agreement with them regarding your work? If yes then check what it says, usually they have the right to use your original work in that case. If not then you can prevent them from using it since you hold the copyright.

Law is just a spook man, but it works both ways

Hit them with a cease and desist, even if it's just crude bullshit you drew up yourself.

1. zero cost or consequences to you
2. chances are that they're too stupid to know how to contest it, even if you do an autistic kindergarten job
3. maybe they actually waste money on legal fees to see if you have any recourse to sue them after you served the c&d
4. ???
5. buy ChainLink you FUCKING FAGGOT

no
case law makes it that product created under company time is company property, unless stated beforehand.
you can take them with you though, but it is all a variation on a theme, so your cocktails are nothing new you faggot.

if you were to start some shit, you'd be blackballed because you'd be the uppity fag who tried to make his cocktails IP

Bartender here.
You don't have any recourse. Plus, the industry is tight and word will get around. I'm assuming you are in a city since you are designing the menu and not slinging kahula mudslides from some chain. At the end of the day, it's not worth it. End on good terms, boost that you made their cocktail menu to any future employers, keep the references. You've left the place better than you found it and that's worth alot.
