That it is going to usher in an era of digital currency and mark the beginning of cashless societies. If you don't understand why cashless societies are a bad idea for the average citizen then you don't understand economic control.

We're already well on our way to cashless societies. Currencies like USD are mostly digital already.

As for bitcoin... the only thing that would worry me is if it became an actual mainstream currency instead of just a bartered commodity. The chance of that happening is slim-to-none, but it would be terrible if it did.
