I'm in NYC living with my folks. I don't have a diploma but I just got my drivers license. Are any of the delivery apps worth pursuing as a job? Or should I try for the license class to drive people?

My father comes home from work around midnight and he's letting me drive his 2009ish sedan at night. He also has Sunday's off so I can have it then.

Yo. I live in NYC too.

You can't do Uber because NYC has shit laws and requires your car to be 2012 or newer. It's fucking bullshit cuz I drive an 08 and I wanted to Uber but couldn't.

One of your best options rn is pizza delivery driver, you probably have to to to queens or Bronx for a car to be viable tho because in the city they just use bikes.

Long term, Apply to ups/FedEx, a lot of these guys are making close to 6 figures. Apply to construction, laborers make 35+ an hour. Try to get into a union for a trade, my boy just got into the electricians union and he's gonna be working as an apprentice the next 5 years for 14 an hour but after that it's smooth sailing 6 figures. Apply to Fresh Direct, they work close to Hunters Point in queens so depending in where you live can be an easy commute off the 7 train.

There's lots of places to work, you just have to look

Good advice from this anon here. Go into a gas company pretty sure New York has pse&g and national grid? Those guys make well over 100k after a few years just gotta work you way up. Start as a meter reader although both require a car. Try Postmates all you need is s bike to deliver food to people, use that to save for a car get a car then do what I mentioned or the other anon. UPS AND FEDEX are also good start points

Thanks fir the advice, I'll look into pizza places but I live in the LES in Manhattan. My uncle is a commercial truck driver and he's suggested coming with him to get my license to be on loading sites to help him with the job and stuff but I'm not sure if trucking is going to be viable for much longer.

I'll keep my eyes open.

Oh shit I forgot dude, go on DCAS and apply to every Civil service exam u can. Sanitation, fire department, cop (tho u need 2 years of college credit for a cop), apply to every government agency. Parks department, whatever. My dad works for Sanitation and he's just been clearing 100k for the last 6 or 7 years in a row. And he has the laziest job, he drives the street sweeper. The actual garbagemen who walk around and pick up cans are making 125k. Supervisors, the ones u see driving around in a little Prius or Chevy volt are making 160. Sanitation is a fantastic gig. You get to entire after 20 years with 100%of your salary. Our neighbor 2 doors down starting working for Sanitation when he was 22, Rn his kids are in middle school and he's getting ready to retire next year.

I think by postmates maybe he means the post office. Federal employees make bank.

So basically I can become a pizza delivery driver without working for the pizza place? I just work sort of all over? Huh. I don't use any of these food delivery services. Everytime I just call them and order for pick up and I go get it myself. Don't want to pay tips

>> No.3518063

>>3518032
Yes pretty much. You just pick up and deliver the persons order. It's something good to do on the side or full time if you can
