I live on that amount, even less sometimes, but I'm incredibly stingy with my cash and don't give a fuck about appearances. What puzzles me is the amount of people with brand new cars, iphones all of that shit. There's no way they can afford it in my country, not even with higher than minimum wage.

I used to. Just ate less. Only saved for good laptop, headphones, screen. Barely had anything in apartment, horded all the money I could like a goblin. All I did was browse the internet and exercise and now I do the same thing, with a better computer and better exercise equipment and now I can actually order food if I'm too lazy to cook.

It's easy when you don't save any of it. Let's say min wage is 20,000 a year net. Rent and utilities is 1k x 12 = 12k. Food is 300x12 =3.6k

So it only costs 15.6k to live on average in North America. Easily doable on full time minimum wage. It's crazy how people think they need these massive salaries, the problem is they want all this stuff like electronics, expensive clothes and new cars. And kids of course but you can probably raise a kid or two on two minimum wage salaries, especially because of child benefits

Spotted the boomer in the thread. The fact that you are poor despite being a worker while back in the day you could afford a house, a car and sustain a family by yourself while you can't do any of that now is where it's evident the worth of money has decreased while wages have not gone up much. You can cry all you want that you didn't have internet or phones back then, but it's a minimum spending and you don't change your computers every day. All economic statistics point towards decay of economic and society ever since the 70s when we got off the gold pattern, so don't try to sell a story that we are all poor now just because we spend in modern tech the equivalent of what a boomer would spend giving tips to his shoeshine boy.

In that case yes it s enough to actualy even put money aside for investment in first appartement or a car. Otherwise it s slavery.

What constitutes minimum wage? I take home about $2900/month after taxes which is really low in my country, $1000 of that goes to rent, around $175 on food, $300 on other stuff. Still leaves me with $1400 to invest every month

Most people work so they have a roof over their head, anon. Granted, I actually do kind of agree that their quality of life would probably be better if they just fucked off innawoods and built mud hut shelters for themselves at that point.

Luxuries like what? Going for a drink with friends? Buying clothes?
Life is not that simple.I have a good paying job now but a few years back i had a teeth problem and i had to spend 2k just for a mouth guard. Also glasses at one point witch were 600$. If you can t put aside money for unforseen events then you are just setting youself up for homelessness. Also mental breakdown from the stress.
Lets factor another thing in a 15$ minimum wage, crime.
A decent paying job would drastically lower crime. People would be less desperate.
Wanting people to be able to afford a better life is not a weakness. People on top want to normalize wageslaving. It s stupid. 8$h for the past like 25 years in the usa... without adjusting for inflation. Fuck that.

A lot receive entitlement payments from various government agencies. Your tax dollars help the various corporations that employ these people to continue to pay them these wages without fear that their living conditions will become so bad that civil unrest occurs. And there will always come along another fool who is willing to work for less and to live a more abject existence.

American drug policy and insatiable demand for hedonistic pleasures empowers Mexican and Central American drug cartels, leading to the flight of millions of emigrants from these countries to the United States, where they will subject themselves to all the indignities that would perturb the average American worker - things are bad for them and their children, but at least they don't fear for their lives on a daily basis. Immigration suppresses wages, and the destabilizing effects of American foreign policy encourage immigration. To cast blame on individuals caught up in this milieu is to miss the forest for the trees. Politicians and the heads of major international corporations should be made to be involved in Minecraft self-defense situations whenever possible.

The ambulance ride itself costs thousands of dollars.

But you're right. I learned not to work. Working hard never got me anywhere. You know what did get me somewhere? Gambling on magic internet money. When the wagies figure out how to milk this scam, we won't have anybody to scrub our toilets or serve or tendies. You might call 9-11 and nobody answers the phone, because hard work was the real scam all along.

Flatshare. Don't eat out ever. Spend almost zero on clothes. Basically, do nothing but maybe go clubbing once in a while. Clubs are all closed, so don't even do that.

It's kind of like a low-security prison. I did this for at least 5 years, with some unemployment thrown in. It's better than living in Haiti I guess, but still uncomfy.
