i take it these are zoomers? i don't get the whole pay off parents debt meme. i love my parents a ton and want the best for them, but one thing i've learned is that parents with bad spending habits will continue to have them once their debts are all cleared, which is why i wouldn't be able to help them. if they were financially responsible, i'd help them in an instant or if they were making a visible attempt to tighten their belts.

Pay for all the disabled friendly things my mum needs - accessible bathroom, new stairlift, wheelchair etc - or help her move to a more suitable home.

Get a nice home for my gf, can finally marry and have children without worrying about the financials. Do some kind of 'work' part time, whether that's a side business or investing or just a job I quite enjoy, spend plenty of time pursuing my hobbies.

I don't think it's asking for much. I'd like to be able to help my closest friends financially too.

pay off the debts and mortgages of both my parents (divorced). reach out to family/friends who have been good to me and offer to take care of any debts they have. make my wife quit or find an easy part time job somewhere, whatever she wants. then for me, i'll just start learning shit, put myself back into school; foreign languages, martial arts, drawing, woodworking, musical instruments, all the shit i'd like to learn now if i had any time/energy left over from wage slaving. the only thing keeping me clocking in every day and investing every spare penny is the thought that i'll make it, and have the life i want.
