30149790 No.30149790 [Reply] [Original]

I just got /filtered/ out of my business administration curriculum because Microsoft Excel was the first course I had to take and I didn't learn it in time. I just failed the final exam earlier today. I'm probably going to switch majors to engineering or health science. What are some resources to self study business on my own? I wanna be like you guys and business has always been interesting but I don't know a thing about investments, entrepreneurship, marketing, etc

I wish it was a joke too but I didn't necessarily fail business administration, I just didn't care about microsoft excel enough
Engineering is totally different, at least what to study has a rationality to it and the expectations are clearly cut out

I want to know lots of facets of business but investing is a good place to start
Do I just go to a brokerage house with some cash and just buy something and see what happens? Complete newfag in this respect

Start investing in crypto. Since you're new, start with safer, high market cap coins. Progress to riskier plays as you get more comfortable.

If you thought excel was too boring those other majors will filter you so hard. But most business degree jobs out of college are absolutely soul crushing. Unironically you should major in and do what you actually enjoy doing. Especially if you couldn’t even force yourself to do a semester of excel. This is the best advice you will ever receive

this, im going to a community college for acocunting and one day want to be a CFO but unless you're into working with finance and give a fuck it will be soul crushing work for you and should work in another sector or something difference altogether.

if you want to unlock higher wages, not have the same cubicle and be able to make higher salary to retire earlier then you should AT LEAST get an associates, unless you're a jew or plan on going fully independent after enough experience itll bite you in the ass. College isnt even that expensive if you're smart and business degrees are piss easy, just max out grades for maximum scholarships and study abroad.

if you're genuinely still interested in learning this stuff, investopedia is a good start and I use it for self studying terms and other basics of accounting and everything else finance. However you have to eventually learn how to use Excel if you plan to put those notes to good use. Theres other sites and books but thats a solid foundation you can jump off of

It’s just a single course and you have 3 attempts per course kek, most universities and colleges won’t even count attempts this year due corona so relax kek. Just repeat the course and get it done.

how the fuck do you fail excel

I literally took a job interview where they had me do some follow-up exam, and it involved an excel examination. I had no idea I would be tested on excel and I have no idea how to use it, I just clicked the help function and typed the questions into it. I passed the exam, but I ultimately found a different, better job.

It's a program with instruction manuals all over the internet, you don't take a course to use a coffee machine either do you?

Those excel classes are lame and they make you learn some stuff that would more than likely only be used by an insanely cheap ass gas station owner or something, since off the shelf software does a lot of the fancy shit they try and show you in it, however failing something easy like that does not bode well for you friend. Did you fail because you hated it and couldn't get into it? Or just because you didn't understand it? There will be a lot of both in engineering school. I was in mechanical engineering.
