Pretty much.
They tend to go for the absolute easiest targets. The more you try to be nice and cooperative, the more they'll pull you through the wringer.

In my country, you can anonymously contact a tax auditor to get a "pre-ruling"; i.e. a pronouncement that the actual tax auditor has to follow.
I explained to him (anonymously) my situation, and he tried to twist every single thing I said.

Never play nice with or volunteer information to these people, they are not your friends and will not treat you more kindly because you're willing to do the right thing. Quite the opposite.

Belgium.

In my country, there is no legal obligation to even declare your (crypto) investment earnings if you acted as a "good housefather".
So it's a bit of a tricky conundrum: either you say to yourself "I invested prudently" and don't declare anything (risking being accused of tax evasion fraud), or you try to be careful and declare your (crypto) investment earnings anyway.

If you go down the second route, thinking "I'm being nice here, surely they'll reward my good behavior", you are dead wrong.
You're just an easy target for them now, thanks to the bull's eye you painted on your own back.

They're not going to go trawling through literally every citizen's bank transactions to see where what money is coming from to find crypto earnings, they just let the fish swim into their mouths.

>what should i have done in this situation?
I honestly don't know how it works in the US, the laws are obviously different; but the general principle stays the same: do the absolute minimum of what you are legally obligated to do.

Get a lawyer/expert too.

Pfffff, these threads just scare me man.

I would be perfectly fine to give them 30% and get it over with, so I can enjoy my money without fear of the tax people coming after me.

However, based on these threads I'm now sure I'll get raped and that they will find ways to charge me 55% taxes. Having invested in more than 10 crypto coins probably allows them to classify it as professional income instead of just safe consumer investing.

Like others said, I'm probably going to get punished if I play nice. But what other options do I have? I can't buy an apartment with gold bricks, and even if I did the tax people would question where it came from.

No man. You’re fucking retarded. Read. Income is income. If you aren’t a registered business then you aren’t a business. Regardless, what do you even think you’re saying here?? Income is income. It gets taxed as income. Period. Look up the tax chart, determine how much you made and compare to your tax exposure. If you made $50k at a regular job, then $50k PROFIT (that’s all that is taxed) then your tax exposure would be $100k and that’s how you would be taxed. There’s a standard deduction of $12k I think and your first $13k aren’t taxed. If you donated anything significant or have a mortgage you can deduct from your taxable income.

Bottom line is you’re a fucking idiot

If the banks see lots of money coming in they might freeze your shit and maybe even report you.

If the bank is satisfied (no money laundering or tax evasion involved), they will let you proceed.

In the states at least, no one can force you to write a check ever. Even if you go to court and the judge declares you must pay x amount to said party, no one in the country can force you to give up your money. Not so fast goy:

"Civil forfeiture in the United States, also called civil asset forfeiture or civil judicial forfeiture,[1] is a process in which law enforcement officers take assets from persons suspected of involvement with crime or illegal activity without necessarily charging the owners with wrongdoing. While civil procedure, as opposed to criminal procedure, generally involves a dispute between two private citizens, civil forfeiture involves a dispute between law enforcement and property such as a pile of cash or a house or a boat, such that the thing is suspected of being involved in a crime."

yeah I understand that law, but the IRS isn't going to audit you without any information. IF I get audited, what exactly will they find? Charges to an exchange? Yet I have made no deposits into my bank accounts. They have no proof of anything, I could easily have just given all that money away and I dont have to prove a fucking thing.
>>30122664
Cashing out all at once will of course trigger an IRS investigation cause your jew banker will report your deposit to their masters. The way to avoid this is....simply bank overseas...

You trust central bankers with your money already, why is it hard to choose a bank from Holland? A bank is a bank, and I promise, banks based in Hong Kong and other parts of asia have absolutely no interest in filing to the a foreign government.
If you cant be bothered to find an international bank, than you can just rub elbows at your local credit union. Your friend wont report your deposits either. Its a process they have manually perform.

Crypto is a long term investment and you're a retard if you're holding anything for less than a year.

>> No.30124169

I haven’t heard anyone talk about this yet so here’s the new twist: all the major crypto tax software places calculate AAVE interest tokens as a value ie in the US a crypto to crypto trade.

When DEFI first popped everyone swore up and down they were loans and not transfers, by end of Sept they claim they can be interpreted as a trade.

I am mildly fucked by this and am at a crossroads how to proceed atm, and I only experimented with DeFi for a few months.

Anyone that was a big time yield farmer may potentially “owe” millions in mystery gains they never made.

man reading your post really made me think i am not the only one to feel that way. Years ago, i started a small business. Long story short, i changed activity, and while declaring the change, tax people were too retarded to make the change appropriately. The result was that i had every paper needed for the business, but nobody would ask me anything or any taxes. After a while, i started to worry about having issues, because i did not receive any request for taxes. It went horribly, some guy stressed me out, pressured me, and i was this close from an audit. All because i wanted to follow the rules stictly. I was a scared puppet like all the retards on this website. Now i know how to deal with them properly. Tax Bracket: 22% $40,126 to $85,525 (filing single)
Real 10.73% federal income tax rate
7.5% medicare/social security tax (not deducted from federal income tax - yes this is double taxation)
VA State Income Tax $720 + 5.75% of excess over $17,000

Now lets include all the post tax shit you accrue over the year
VA Sales Tax 6%
VA Food Tax 2.5%
VA Gas Tax $0.212 per gallon
VA Vehicle Inspection - $20.00

Total taxes and fees vary but around 32.48% (I didnt calculate the $720 base VA tax nor the VA inspection or Gas tax into this) of each of your dollars you worked hard for goes to the government.

Basically means you can’t use DeFi without accruing a huge “gain” off the rip.

Meanwhile aTokens have “value” since September but you can’t trade them for anything except what you deposited. They are a receipt and yet every major tax software is calculating them as a trade and all the big guidance from crypto firms says this is accurate.

Bunch of horseshit.

$CLF

Consensus EPS for 2021 is $2.62. Using a multiple of 8 yields a PT of approximately $21. This estimate assumes (1) no commodities super-cycle, (2) no massive ($2 trillion) infrastructure package, and (3) no quarterly earnings beats. Therefore, factoring in that one or more of these 3 conditions have a reasonable chance of happening, IMO yields a PT in the range of 25-$30.
