Assuming milfag? I know it sucks but take the hit on BAH and just live on base for now. Housing market is over-inflated and will burst like a mofo once the double-whammy of:
1. eviction moratorium gets lifted
2. rise in yield wiping out the mortgage market
forces a massive dump market-wide.

Buying a house now is like buying a house months before the housing bubble crisis in 08-09... Don't.

YCC is yield curve control. this is where the Fed steps in and buys just the right amount of treasury bills, notes, or bonds to keep the yield stable, or within a small acceptable range

once the yield is stable, the stock market should continue in its upward trend, in general. as we saw last week with the yields spiking, the stock market sold off bigtime. that is how fragile it is. so the fed is using YCC to stabilize the bond and stock market basically

we have discussed them a few times in the past. I love their properties, i ve wandered on some of them myself or know plenty of my old work mates who have over the years in that Stewart / Hyder territory. They had some underwelming core last year, but I know there is gold on their properties because there are fantastic creek placers flowing from them. The issue is figuring out which of the hundreds of showings is the source. They do have one flaw, their ground isnt all joined up, its cut up across 4 properties if i recall, their all close together but not one single unified property, which makes some investors ignore them.

Pic related is a nugget from one of the creeks feeding from Mountain Boys Properties.

If you're asking about a deflationary spiralas in what happened after the 1929 crash (the Great Depression), zero percent. The Federal Reserve will never, ever allow deflation as explained in Bernanke's paper, "Making Sure 'It' Doesn't Happen Here."

However, there can be a brief bout of disinflation/deflation if a major asset bubble pops. The amount of time the disinflationary period will last will vary based upon how quickly Fed policy yields results, which is also dependent upon sentiment. I would guess that a bona fide bubble pop (March 2020 doesn't count) would result in at least 6 - 12 months of falling prices in assets.

Yeah, nope.

Housing prices in the greater Seattle area are beyond stupid and into "malignant". $600K for new construction stackers on postage stamp lots an hour outside the city. If you're getting BAH or whatever they call it these days take the free money from Uncle Sugar and salt away a mortgage payment equivalent into something that won't lose value, and make plans to buy a house somewhere that isn't run by idiot communists.

I don't think Biden & his goons will let the moratoriums end until employment is higher and the economy starts to move forward. And if they do they will change rules on forbearance. At that point though, we might hyperinflate. So who knows?

thats all happening anyway - thats not directly due to YCC. YCC is smaller in scope than that - its meant to stabilize the market. in this freakshow economy, "stabilizing" the market means the resumption of inflation and propping up of the market bubbles. at this point, YCC is basically so the markets dont sell off hard as fuck like we saw last week

Not necessarily. Due to the depth and breadth of the current bubble, I suspect a crash will take down practically every asset there is, including precious metals. However, grossly overpriced assets will stay down (or continue going down day after day, week after week) while reasonably priced and under priced assets will start rising relatively quickly once liquidity issues are somewhat sorted out.

It is the possibility of a nasty crash that everyone should have a reasonable pile of cash, as detestable as it is to hold in this environment. If a crash occurs, that cash gives you tremendous optionality as you can trade that crappy cash, which is suddenly in very high demand, for assets people are dumping out of fear, liquidity needs, or outright panic.

Someone smarter than me help me out;

I've been offered 1 troy pound (16 troy ounces) of junk silver for around $408. Good deal? I love junk silver and if my math checks out, this is a pretty good deal.

16×.9=14.4
408/14.4= $28.34 per troy ounce of silver.

Does my math check out? Do I pull the trigger?

Silver has more upside potential in the current environment, meaning that if you put $1000 into either gold or silver, chances are you will make more money on the silver. On the other hand, gold is historically more resilient on the downside of the trade.
Personally I went 60% into gold, 40% into silver because I was more interested in keeping my wealth over substantially increasing it.
The case is there for why you'd go heavily into Silver now (GSR still > 60:1) is still there but it depends on your goals and how much you have to spend.

If less than $5000 into PMs I would get 1oz of gold and the rest in Silver, just in case.
I agree with keeping some cash on the side, but would be weary of the crypto market in case the government decides to start regulating it. If BTC takes a heavy blow so will other cryptos, that's just the reality of the matter.

Unless the interest on that debt is extremely low--say, 4% or less--you're going to get eaten alive. I very seriously doubt that credit card debt is going to be under 10%. Even in high inflation, credit card debt will not be wiped out because the interest rate can always be raised. The only way that amassing a massive amount of credit card debt might be beneficial to you is if there were a hyperinflation where prices double on a daily basis and you are somehow able to buy hard assets with that card.

One troy pound contains 12 troy ounces not 16 troy ounces. The numbers aren't that great.

$408/12 ozt = $34 per troy ounce.

I'm assuming that the weight is for the silver only and does not include the weight of the metals alloyed with the silver. If it's total weight, then the actual price for the silver is:

$34 / 0.925 = $36.76 per troy ounce of silver

$36.76/ozt is not a great deal, in my opinion.

The only situation where I think it makes sense to go into debt to buy precious metals is if you have an Equity line of credit, or refinance your mortgage with a significantly lower rate than what you're currently at.

I already have a HELOC with a 6% rate and 20/40 repayment terms which I use to fund repairs on my flips.

I plan on refinancing my mortgage (114k remaining principal with 24 years left to go on the loan) down to around 2.8 to 3% from 4.6%. After doing the calculations, over 24 years I would pay around 15-20 thousand dollars less back to the bank. I will take out 15k and buy silver with it. If any of the following things happen over the next 24 years, I can repay my mortgage earlier than planned:

1) Silver prices increase 10x - mortgage repaid
2) Inflation goes through the roof, PMs repriced in the new replacement currency
3) Hyperinflation, 1oz of Silver will pay back my 130k loan.

The kicker here is - FIXED rate loan. If you have an adjustable rate, the banks will rape you as soon as interest rates go up to try and control the inflation that is most certainly coming.

In my original calculation, even if we assume that you are getting 1 troy pound (12 troy ounces) of 0.9999 fine silver, the price comes out to be $34/ounce. That's not a fantastic price at all.

I just did a scan of APMEX and they're selling 1 ozt silver bars for a little bit under $34/ounce. JM Bullion is pre-selling 10-ounce bars for $317.70 (31.77/ounce). If you buy from one of the big dealers, you don't have to worry too much about counterfeits.

I'm glad to help. I am 100% certain that my math is correct but you might want to talk to the seller of that silver and verify that it is one troy pound of silver and not one avoirdupois pound of silver. One avoirdupois pound (454 grams) is more than one troy pound (373 grams). If the offer is $408 for an avoirdupois pound of silver, then the price you'd be paying is:

454 grams * 1 ozt/31.1035g = 14.59 ozt
$408 / 14.59 ozt = $27.95 per troy ounce.

It might be best to ask him how much the silver weighs in kilograms to avoid confusion.

Gains? :) If you can buy platinum at a low enough premium, I believe there is a good chance you'll see better gains than in silver or gold. However, you do have to be able to stomach the volatility. I own platinum in BullionVault so I essentially bought at spot price. If you buy physical bullion, you'll be paying a fairly hefty premium.

Also, i already said it, but i refuse to believe it's just retail demand, i'm convinced big players are buying up all the silver they can up their hand on. We and WSS just serve as the perfect scapegoat to justify the stocks going dry.

Imho we currently are witnessing a currency war, different players, either it be big banks or even gubments, are stockpiling like crazy in preparation of the obliteration of the USD. Once the reserve currency gone, central banks all over the world will need a standard to justify the value of their currency for international trades, and historically it always have been gold and silver.

We GMI on a scale the frens here can't even start to fathom.

In all likelihood, yes. A stock market crash will probably take down all stocks, especially speculative stocks. The risk of nationalization is higher in South America and fairly high in Africa.

>Will the government attempt to nationalize the silver mines
If it threaten either the economic stability of the country or threaten to disrupt the industrial capacities of big corp, i've no doubts about it.
Or at least the gubment will force you to sell back your shares at a fixed price to become the majority shareholder and have a say to whom the production is sold to. Protip : it will be sold to the gubment, and the rest to big corpos depending on how hard they lobbyed the politicians.

And i believe so because how inelastic the silver production is. By-product production is fix, you can't move it. A copper/zinc/lead mine wont produce 3 times more copper in hope to find few more silver oz. It already count for 70% of the silver production who is not only fix, but have diminishing returns.

So only remain silver miners, the most underfinanced, undervalued, under equipped, under everything sector you can imagine. So few capitals coming from the stock market that they can't afford any debt, must have cash ready in hand and can declare bankruptcy for about any problem they face. They have been starved to death by comex' price fixing, they are skeleton sized operations.
If we ask them to suddently produce even just x3, it will take years before the demand can be met. They are so goddamn tiny...
No formed personnel availible.
No equipment availible.
No permits.
Not even any new big deposit found. The last large silver deposit found was in inner mongolia back in 2018.
Even if you drown them in cash, you don't transform a tiny 100 employes mine into a giant miner like that.
And there isn't any deposit large enough (in the B oz) left on earth to justify a giant mine. At best you would have plenty of tiny operations all around excavating stuff from old XIXc abandonned mines and the like.

it would be suicide to which ever party did it. Not only that, it would likely cause so much financial damage i cant even fathom it, not just for the common person but for the entire country. Canada's mining sector weilds its power though Bay Street Toronto. Something like 60% of the TSX is working on mining or exploration at any given time. Imagine if Trudeau came out tomorrow and said "hay all of Canada's mining sector is now national property", every penny of that investment and general financial wealth would instantly vanish from the TSX. It would cause a crash never seen before. Not only that, it would crush the entire heavy industrial sector in a moment. People would either start offing themselves or could even start rioting over it. You would kill this country with such an act. That is the power of the mining sector here in Canada.

Idk if you noticed, but you now have about 15-20 new shitcoin of the day spammed to death on the board. And they change every 2 days. Some get pumped&dumped the very day of their release. Scammers are this fast, they are happy with their coin only having trapped 2 gulible faggots for a 200 bux total nowaday.

on the current site its mostly a mix of brand new guys from local / nearby communities and a mix of old timers from BC / Manitoba and Quebec. My shift boss Milan, he emigrated to Canada in the early 80s from Yugoslavia, two of the other old timers on our crew came over from there as well after the 90s civil wars. Fantastic miners they are. BCs mines are almost all locally trained and hired, but the further east you go the more eastern European and African people show up. The euro guys are fantastic miners, poles and Italians especially. The guys from Nigeria and Central Africa will out work anyone else, and are also some of the most safety conscious underground. If somethings wrong they are not going or doing it.

The mining fraternity draws from all parts of the world because mining is all over the world.

Most of those guys worked underground at South Africa's deep mines, than when they started to close up, they emigrated to Canada to work in our mines because the labor force was so limited. I am not saying their perfect, some guys are dumber than a bag of rocks, but i ve been impressed by many others. They know serious danger, those deep mines in SA could kill 3 or 4 of their friends in a month, that translated over when they came here. The polish and Yugo guys are the same, they know what their doing underground and have that sixth sense when danger is coming. Many are 3rd or 4rth generation miners too.

Same -- for me part of the whole point of PMs is the enjoyment of fondling them. I also don't put my silver into capsules. I specifically focus on buying silver with low premiums over spot that also have reasonably aesthetic designs. If silver is money then it should be treated as money, not artificially kept pristine in vacuum-sealed plastic.

/pmg/ isn’t a hivemind, different people here have different strategies. I am still 100% silver till the GSR falls to at least 50 but I can see the wisdom in acquiring some gold now with the price falling. The “silver squeeze” if it does happen will play out over the course of months not days.

Everyone has a different threshold for what's a "good deal." Currently the GSR sits at around 60, while the historical mean is ~50. I think most people agree silver is the better deal but gold is REALLY cheap right now too considering all the money printing and it being several hundred dollars off its nominal all time high.

On our daily life we have to face spoiled violent brats who were born in white nations allowing them to basically shart up everywhere with no consequence because of woke propaganda.
I've no doubts niggers from africa coming there are way more motivated than welfare crackheads.
But i also know the nature of the rootless nigger, and if the african migrant spawn niglets, they most likely will also end up being lazy, entitled violent niggers.

its like any industrial sector, guys come and go all over the place. Mining especially is pretty transient, you move to where the work is, than move on when its done, very few stick around unless their retirement age. My shift boss has been everywhere from all over Europe, Asia, Russia, parts of Africa, south and central America for dozens of different mines and mine projects. It doesnt always work out though, there is for sure culture clash in a lot of projects, some places hard segregate too. Never seen that in Canada but apparently that happens a lot in Asia and south american mines.
