I made a website for a local business here in Vancouver today using shitty wordpress. It was a reluctant from the start.
I wasted 3 days of my ( actually great ) web development bootcamp (Lighthouse Labs) in order to do the website for her, for $500, now she says she won't pay me $500 because she doesn't like it and she needs rework, but I don't want to waste my web development bootcamp days, and I have a lot to catch-up because of her.
So out of frustration I emailed and told her that I don't want her stupid money, and that no amount of money will let me catch up with my lost coursework.
I then logged into her godaddy, and changed her nameservers to a random website's. Also deleted her CNAME, MX, records.
I feel like such a loser. I should have taken money in advance. Add to that, I'm a jobless fuck who's only way to get an IT job is through this bootcamp.
How do I cope?

but it will take time, and i will not be able to catch up and finish my bootcamp coursework which is much more beneficial to my career than stupid ancient dinosaur technology of wordpress.

i got this contract thru my landlord. this was my first one. i decided to do on freelancing wordpres but it coincided badly with my bootcamp, so i decided bootcamp is way better.

Getting sued is not worth it

Bootcamp is better but in order to get hired you need real life websites/apps under your belt. Not shitting you, I am a senior dev and I have helped my boss pick/hire candidates and no one with solely bootcamp experience ever gets hired

I don't mean restore the website you made, just go reset the records (should be a few clicks in godaddy) so it just shows domain parking and not some random midget porn website

Might as well share - I got jewed out of $3500 while I was first learning development because even though we had a contract and even though they had a deposit, I never set a clause/limit for the number of revisions the client was allowed and they dragged out the revision process for months until I decided it wasn't worth my time and they refused to pay up. Called it a loss and moved on with my career but it was an expensive lesson to learn

Congrats on the bootcamp. I often hire entry level web devs from local bootcamps.
But you should appologize to your client and fix her DNS settings. Heres why:
1.) You probably suck at coding and produced a shitty copy/pasta site
2.) You FOR SURE suck at gathering requirements and working with clients otherwise you wouldnt be in this situation
3.) Burning people will hurt your career. You could of used that lady as a job reference even if the site was shit.

Go fix her DNS settings and focus on bootcamp and resume

Bro, get a deposit with clients first and then start the work. Make sure you get a contract and proposal setup. If she doesn't like it by then or doesn't pay you, then she's screwed.
