I hope this does not sound too autismo but I have a question regarding finance.

My girlfriend of three years has been offered, by her parents, a down-payment and co-sign of a $700,000 or less property. She has asked that I contribute my savings, roughly $15,000, and pay rent once I start working full time. This property is to be considered solely hers and if we broke up I would not be entitled to any refund of monies spent. My girlfriend also plans on quitting work once I enter the job force.

I have an undergraduate degree and am currently in my second of three years studying law at a mid-tier university, have average marks, and no job experience. I do, however, have an inheritance of $100,000 that I am going to receive next month. My girlfriend knows that I am going to receive an inheritance but my family has specifically asked me not to mention how much it will be, so I haven't.

My question is this... Should I contribute the $100,000 and ask for partial ownership of the property or should I place the money into an index fund?

Sounds like her parents are rich and want to buy her a house with your money. If anything I would insist that the price limit be 300k. Also consult a lawyer because it sounds like your having no ownership rights and being expected to pay the mortgage down is a situation where you will want legal advice. No ownership or recourse means you don't pay a dime. If they don't like it get a divorce attorney. Sounds miserable.

It makes absolutely no sense to put in the 15k. Tell her you aren’t going to put a down payment on a mortgage that you don’t have equity on because it’s a bad financial decision, and that she shouldn’t want to be with a moron who doesn’t know anything about money

If you just comply with what she wants you are a retard and deserve to lose all of your savings. Since you’re even asking this question it would probably be smarter, and I mean this unironically, to just give your money to me or another anon since there is a small chance you might actually get some of it back
