>> No.29928801

>>29928594
Yeah the method is that you are selling more at top. So basically you are averaging your sells upward. Its just like doubling down when the price drops in order to lower your cost average. So this helps you time tops and bottoms, and mentally it helps you not feel like an idiot for not selling and never taking profits. Also really easy to do things like rebuy at a lower cost average, because you can be like "Well I sold 500 shares at $19, so I can buy 1000 shares at $9 and actually be ahead". Look up the martingale strategy, basically that for the sell side.

Funny story. I'm Canadian and I know of this Quebec-based women's clothing chain called Reitman's. They're basically on the verge of bankruptcy because of the lockdowns and their stock plummeted and became a penny stock. I bought 85 shares at $0.18 after buying AMC when it was high and being broke and bagholding. I only spent about $15 bucks. Well this fucking piece of shit stock of a dead company more than doubled this month. If I had bought even $300 worth I would be in the fucking money right now. Or better yet, spend the $2k I dumped into AMC into Reitman's. I think I'm going to sell my Reitman's stock tomorrow as it appears to be falling again (I'm still way up on my investment and the volume isn't too high so I don't see it rising or falling very rapidly so I'll have enough time to liquidate before it plummets). But I'm rambling, my point is that the market seems to be absolute bullshit.

I'm gonna hold this stock till I make a nice profit.

Maybe its just me but my gut tells me this shit is worth far more than what anons think.

Sure it's a meme stock, but that's the thing. A lot of the supporters just blindly throw money into this thing while disregarding any naysayers or dips. And many of these supporters throw in a shit load of money (like millions worth) to keep the price stable or increase it. Cult mentality is a powerful thing.

Plus, when I see the price of this stock is higher than before COVID when it was working at full operations, the insane amount of short selling done by hedges to drive the price down, and the set-up being incredibly similar to that of Gamestop, and multiple companies like Black Rock or Vanguard owning a fuck load of shares from this "dying" company, then it just doesn't make sense for me to think it would go only downwards.

I could be completely wrong and this shit tanks like a rock, but eh, rather be realistically optimistic than being an unrealistic pessimist. Having a negative mentality for no reason is just gonna make me make insanely stupid decisions because I always expect the worst regardless of the facts.

Exactly

I think the problem is too many people expected this shit too blow up in a few days, and just sold when they saw the money go down over time.

This is just me theorizing so take what I say with a grain of salt but I got more reasons to think this shit will skyrocket.

1.) Many Americans are taking massive losses from this pandemic. And when you couple that with a inept government that literally has to argue for months to give people scraps of cash, then it makes sense people will find alternative to make money in a time where finding employment is difficult or just too risky.

2.) Robinhood shutting down the ability to buy said meme stocks likely pissed enough people up to the point where they are determined to fuck over hedges who don't want people to become rich overnight.

3.) It's a cheap stock to own. Damn near anyone can throw cash into this thing without worrying too much assuming they spend an amount they are willing to lose in the worst case scenario. Hedges might have billions, but at some point, having a ton of people throwing in their small part is gonna be overwhelming even for them. Kinda like if a lion were to go up against a fuck load of fire ants.

Again, just all theories. Don't take what I say as legitimate fact but it's something I believe in personally.

Just using common sense psychology and looking into the statistics. It's the only rational line of thinking for me to have for AMC right now.

There's a fuck load of misinformation so what I do to navigate around that is just put myself in the shoes of the hedges and ask myself why would I be driving the price of a stock each down day (i.e. it's the most shorted stock in the history of the market but correct me if I'm wrong) if it was destined to fail anyways.

And the answer for me is that if doesn't make sense.

You don't drive a price down of a stock for weeks unless you have something big to lose.

Not an advisor. Just someone who thinks from both sides and looks into the facts as much as possible.

I think AMC is a safe long term stock even if it doesn't moon. Who could ever think it will go to zero? They have thousands of theatres across North America, small businesses are always first to fail in an economic downturn (which means small theatres will fail first), and despite streaming platforms there will always be demand for movie theatres because it's fucking lame to ask a girl to see a movie at your house. Movie theatres are not going away. AMC is probably going to be at minimum a $20 stock within a year as long as restrictions are lifted. It's a bargain at these prices. Even if it doesn't moon I'm never selling this shit at a loss because I'm confident that it won't ever fail or stay at a low price within my lifetime.

Just do your own research and find people who aren't constantly trying to talk down about your choices.

First of all I'm just going to say that this is an astonishingly retarded question and you probably should learn the bare basics of investing/finance before you go any further. To actually answer your question, it is entirely dependent on what a sizeable profit looks like to you. If you bought 100 shares and the stock goes up to $11, you've made a couple hundred bucks. If you bought 30 shares and it goes up to $100, you've made a hell of a lot more. By most metrics the former return is pretty nice and most people would be happy with that, but under these circumstances I imagine you bought in expecting it to moon like crazy and make a massive return. The truth is that nobody can answer your question but you. When GME went up a lot of people were holding for $1000 and thus never sold. Some people sold at $200 and even though they didn't hit the top they made a life changing amount of money. Be smart about your holding, if it goes up significantly make sure you at least cover your principle, be sure not to lose everything.
