I push back against interacting with machines. I walk in the bank and speak to a teller instead of going through the ATM. I never order things online. Pretty experienced navigating a phone tree to get to a person, even if the info I need could instantly be read by a robot. I try to communicate with people as much as possible, even if it is less convenient for me, because I don’t want a world filled with people staring at screens, pushing buttons to order everything they need, wearing masks, and not interacting with each other in person.

This is what we are doing at my company. You don't completely automate the high skill job, but make it so 3 or 4 high-skilled persons can do the job of 5. That's a lot of money saved.
There's a lot of money to be made in automating dumb tasks that people do, mostly data-entry. Web-scraping, automating GUIs, centralizing data, natural-language-processing, etc are really worth getting into.
I think NLP especially is going to be huge in the near future since a lot of what people do at companies is just reading stuff all day. If, with NLP, you can just eliminate 90% of this need by filtering what's relevant, it has a lot of value.

Otherwise, some situations it can be quicker and easier to deal with a person than a robot, but sometimes the robot is easier. If you have a complex problem the robot will waste your time and be useless. If you are just ordering fast food you have to sit there and explain to them what they want, you don't have ways to check their button pushes for accuracy, you can see the price ring up as you make orders instead of bugging them if you want to take something off to reduce the price, robots less likely to mess up your order, etc.

people definitely selling stolen shit in the parking lot. The guy who manages the ammo counter is never there and when he shows up he has a thousand yard stare and talks slow like a nam vet.
The self checkout line is always packed and when you get up to the front there's always at least one or two of them with their guts spilled out in disarray. as always. Normal checkout has 20 lanes but only 2 are active even though it's only fucking 8 pm. If you have any issue with the self checkout, they'll find the closest cheapest similar item on the search bar and scan it in (wife got two $45 mouses for $5 apiece because people really just do not care).

While you have some 90 year old lady in the back making your food or checking out 10x as many people while a few idiots putz with the machine. buddy I worked at walmart for several years as customer service, the shit niggers and nigger like whites pull is unreal
The creative ones pay for the tv as normal with cash, then leave. Then they will take out the tv, fill the box with old rugs or whatever they have on hand, tape it up really nice so it looks unopened, return it because it was the wrong size or whatever, saying they never opened it, and get their cash back.
If they want a steeply discounted tv they put the tv on the scale and ring it as some common fruit, pay for the fake fruit purchase, and leave with a massively discounted tv.
When they want straight free stuff they just run out with the items or swap them into other boxes (small items like shoes usually).
