I push back against interacting with machines. I walk in the bank and speak to a teller instead of going through the ATM. I never order things online. Pretty experienced navigating a phone tree to get to a person, even if the info I need could instantly be read by a robot. I try to communicate with people as much as possible, even if it is less convenient for me, because I don’t want a world filled with people staring at screens, pushing buttons to order everything they need, wearing masks, and not interacting with each other in person.

This is what we are doing at my company. You don't completely automate the high skill job, but make it so 3 or 4 high-skilled persons can do the job of 5. That's a lot of money saved.
There's a lot of money to be made in automating dumb tasks that people do, mostly data-entry. Web-scraping, automating GUIs, centralizing data, natural-language-processing, etc are really worth getting into.
I think NLP especially is going to be huge in the near future since a lot of what people do at companies is just reading stuff all day. If, with NLP, you can just eliminate 90% of this need by filtering what's relevant, it has a lot of value.

Wage argument is nonsense. It costs $2 a hour to get someone to pick up nuts off the ground but farmers still play 300k plus service and storage costs for a combine to do the job quicker and easier. If it makes sense than companies will do it. But something like a "robot makes your burger" restaurant is only going to ever make sense in some fag hole like San Francisco and chances are it will really be some Mexican guy in a robot suit.
