theories for why the market is so down? ndx especially

>> No.29845121

I need someone to explain to me how I'm going to fuck myself on this one

>GME options back at ~480% IV
>Share price ~100
>Buy 100x shares for $10,000
>Sell 3/5 covered call at 110 strike for 24/share (current price)
>If GME moons, option is assigned and I make $10/share on the sale plus $24/share from the option premium for 34% return in a week
>If GME crabs or dumps I keep the premium

The risk is either if GME moons big and I miss out on the major upside, or if GME dumps by more than the option premium I eat the difference. So basically it's a bet that GME will close above $76 on Friday. Definite risk of dumping back to $45, but GME is so out of whack the inevitable drawdown won't happen all at once. A premium of $24/share vs share price of $100 on a weekly option seems tasty.

Covered calls are a bad bet right now. With the market dumping last week, anything can happen. Stocks can both rebound sharply or dump further. I'm not selling any options on my stocks like I usually do for this reason. GME is worse due to the unpredictability. I'd wait for things to settle down before I start selling options again. Once GME hits $40-50 again, it's reasonable to start selling options to retarded redditors.

Thanks a lot, anon. I will look into it. I was looking at SOXX holdings today and INTC was with 8% by far their biggest position. That got me thinking. Is it because of the new American semiconductor agenda? Or just because they see the biggest room for growth in INTC? There was just so much FUD about INTC lately and I don’t know if they can actually turn it around because I’m also fairly new to the sector. But tell me - you value INTC because of their own products or how do you see the future of INTC? IDM or pure play? Because you were comparing them to fabless. Is the distinction even necessary? I was meming a bit there but still, semiconductors man. just stick with SOXL and there's no limit. Compared to the rest of the tech industry semi companies make huge profits and have huge competitive advantages. The growth in the semiconductor will accelerate with no end in sight. Marty the robot doesn't have a twitter feed or integrated facebook but it's chock full of microcontrollers. I don't know when we'll hit 400 but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it by end of 2022 at the absolute latest

Are we still bullish longterm on nio? I've been holding nio since August at 9 average. I have 15k in it.. My plan was to hold at least a year to avoid short term gains tax. But its been slumping recently and I can't tell if the ev hype is over for good or just in a cool down period rn.

I am already about to sell all my memes except maybe my options Monday morning, as soon as that money settles on Wednesday probably, I will buy more soxl. Im just debating whether to sell all my nio as well after earnings and just all in soxl.

I'm so incredibly bullish on it that I want to buy as much as I can. Maybe I will keep nio and sell off parts of it to buy soxl dips.

I'm not an expert in them but there are anons here who are (FUDers and pumpers) maybe they will chime in you. QE is money in bank vaults, resulting in asset price inflation that can be swept under the rug. Stimulus is money directly into consumer pockets.

While they've saved their 'rona bucks and/or used them to paper over lost income, stimulus + incomes recovering with the reopening = dollars chasing CPI goods.

please correct my thinking. I'm guessing it's because high valuations, incoming yield increases even a year off, record participation in stock market, and the probably last stimulus check news of coronavirus. Up ahead we have tax rate increases on capital gains and corporate tax rates which will hit tech, valuations probably not earning higher multiples in the near future, and a general bubble that will be unwound a bit. So it's not bearish on ndx actually, but rather tactical moves based on getting out on good news and outlook. Also the high leverage in the system. It's less because of bad news or earnings in general and just larger macro trends. Like the fact a lot of stimulus has entered and will enter the economy but if you look out the next infrastructure stimulus will likely include tax hikes on companies even if set to be rolled on over years.

maybe better expressed as this. Re-open rotation will hit nasdaq 100, tax hikes will hit nasdaq 100, and the odds of going to 40 PE on big tech is less likely than 30 PE. It doesn't mean any of these things are bad longterm investments though, just that the short term moves ahead are not looking as great as they have for the past year of covid and stimulus. It's most likely that higher taxes are coming to help balance the economy rather than a tightening. So while the fed might be supportive and the tax increases will be offset by another multi-trillion immediate infrastructure plan, the tax hikes even if gradual will be priced in sooner than later. So the short term moves in non-reopen growth are looking more stagnant or even bearish for the short term.

I've re-watched the presentations, and it looks like their stuff brigns back those "neurotoxic" proteins back to normal levels, and not eliminate them. I think their medicine does not directly affect any of those proteins, but some common base reaction.

Literally the same argument could have been made throughout the XX and XIX century when agricultural labor got cut from being more than 90% of the population's income to around 5%.

For starters unregulated full automation would drive the price of everything down to a level where even fucking runescape gold miners could afford a decent level of living.
Secondly, cheaper goods would lead to people having higher spare income, by extension increasing the opportunity for jobs. Just look around you nowadays, people pay to play overwatch with girls. They donate thousands to talentless youtubers. They buy geek paraphernalia they don't use. The world has simply too much spare income; imagine how this will look like on full automation? Even 80 IQ mutts will be able to find some way of getting cash.

Lastly, history proves how good the market is at adding productive value to previously inefficient assets - what do you think stuff like Uber is - , as well as giving work to useless people. More than 50% of our economy is composed of jobs whose existence could cease tomorrow and no one would miss it in a 1 year. You're underestimating people's ability to find value in the most retarded things and to pay for them, especially with surplus.

UBI is just another addition to our perpetually inflationary system. It could be acceptable if, as Friedman proposed, we used it as a replacement for all the other social programs. By adding to everything else you're just adding air to the bubble.
