the system is setup that if 33% of the validators go down it halts the system as a fail-safe.
most delegators piled onto 2 nodes, pushing those two over 33%. they both then went offline, halting the system. there's a few things that went wrong that need to be addressed.
1) encourage people to delegate to smaller nodes
2) cap max amount of people that can delegate to a node
3) lower the cost of operating a validator right now
4) encourage validators to at least give their node a name so it doesnt look like a black hole to newbies

Yes, this would be a decent idea as well. We just need a way to spread it a little bit more. The system worked as was designed, unfortunate that it occurred when it did. Look back at the history of ETH and a ton of other projects that had a really awful day with serious flaws. The good news is that the Fantom team responds quickly and deals with issues. And they keep integrating. Like I said, crab/bleed is my prediction, maybe down to .4, but the bigger picture is too good and if there's a decent announcement or catalyst we could build momentum again.
