HELP ME OUT /biz/. I wanted to share some of my gains with my family, so I told them I made 2k profit from stocks (not even crypto) and am giving my dad and mom 500 each. (I actually invested all my life savings and made over 20k of profit).
THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY SEETHING, asking me how much did I invest (I told them 5k), when did I start, and that its too risky and that I shouldnt gamble with my hard earned money. They told me to stop investing and to find a job. They strongly disapproved of my actions while taking the money i shared with them.
My sister keeps making fun of me asking why do I invest and laughed at me telling me to find a job.
I'm so stressed out right now, I didnt expect my family to scold me over something I did out of my own goodwill (to share my money I earned with them) HOW COULD THEY SCOLD ME FOR GIVING THEM MONEY??? they kept saying to stop gambling and that its too risky and they are concerned that I would lose everything.

Its really hard for me to understand how some parents can be seething instead of being proud. Im a student, and before i told my parents where my money actually comes from, they thought i was selling drugs and told me to just be careful. My whole family is proud and dont really ask that many questions, never ask for money, and even when i want to treat them to a nice dinner at a restaurant they tell me to save my money.
One eye opening experience was when i took my parents shopping and bought my dad a pretty nice, high quality suit for my cousins wedding, and beautiful earrings and a necklace for my mom. I could see how happy they were, but later my mom told that dad was crying and never thought that one of his kids would something like that for him. They both came from pretty poor families, but gave us a comfy lower middle class life.

Love your parents and family, treat them right and talk to them, and maybe they wont be seething anymore
