Explain to me exactly why (without normalfag buzzwords) Bitcoin is NOT a store of value?

Gold has been a store of value for humans for about 5,000 years, and we’ve been around for at least 100,000 years (in our current form) - so why is it so out of the question that finally we have a digital store of value that is hard capped and able to transact globally vast amounts of wealth?

I only own 1.0075 Bitcoin, so im not some “all in” bitcoiner, but it is clear humanity has decided Bitcoin is a store of value and that it definitely fits that narrative more than a daily currency to exchange, the shitcoins and shitfiat can be used for that, Gold and Bitcoin are more in the same category as both are entities we don’t want to give up or trade for small things, but we will sell them for large transfers of wealth, such as buying a home or land.

You already answered my question. Like I said, good luck storing mass amounts of water. Also isn't what you just described a speculative scenario? You speculate that the world will end (good joke schizo) and I speculate that we will have a cryptocurrency based monetary system in the next 30 years. One of these things is the future, and the other is what schizos have thought for hundreds of years.

Please explain to me how you plan to back a currency with water you absolute sperg. Water is common in literally every place in the world that is not a desert and will always be common. I could go outside RIGHT NOW, pick up some snow, bring it inside, and it would melt and I would have water. Water does not work as a way to back currency because it is bulky, common, and prone to picking up filth. Food is perishable, it literally becomes valueless faster than any asset (with some exceptions). Gold is better. It has and always will be a good store of value.

This, bitcoin is going to go up in value before it can be a store of value, once volability ends, bitcoin will be the internets gold. and gold will be the physical bitcoin, buy gold and bitcoin if you want to survive the financial apocalypse.

as long as there is a US military, there will be a US dollar and Euro. pisses me off to end when people talk about gold like it has inherent value not derived form consensus.

i'm very bullish on bitcoin and ethereum since it is a modern day store of value narrative that can be liquidated easier than gold, easily stored on a ledger, and allows almost instant transactions between parties.

that being said, it's not like an index or REIT that pays dividends. like gold, it's just a combination of speculation and hedging against inflation rather than being a pure passive investment that generates cash flow.

bitcoin is one of the worst store of value possible. It pumps massively when there's an inflow and collapses when there's an outflow. Few companies buy bitcoin for few billions and it adds hundreds of billions to marketcap. The same would happen in the reverse direction.

A store of value must be backed by something. Gold was a store of value when people were forced by the government to buy it (taxes).

this is true, gold mining won't just "stop" some day, unlike bitcoin, where all of them will be mined by 2140, so when bitcoin is no longer speculative it will gradually be more valuable than gold, but im not sure whether this is good or bad.
