It gets reported that Jed McCaleb and David were working on Ripple, and then Arthur Britto came into the picture (apparently by introduction through Roger Ver, per 9/3/18 @joelkatz tweet). The Forbes article says “McCaleb and Schwartz joined forces and soon brought on another programmer, Arthur Britto, to help Schwartz finish XRP's technical architecture. In 2012, while Schwartz and Britto wrote code, veteran tech executive Chris Larsen, who previously worked at Prosper Loans, joined Ripple as its first chief executive.” Jed, David, Chris have publicly participated in the community throughout the past several years. Arthur Britto has been responsive on message boards in the past, but has not had a public persona in social media or Ripple public relations as have the others. The limited coverage of his involvement in several of these articles does not seem commensurate with the role his significant early apportionment of XRP would imply. (No desire to mug off Ryan Fugger, it's just that his lack of original XRP distribution or ongoing role at Ripple makes him less pertinent to an XRP discussion in 2018.)

The 2015 Observer article had perhaps the most detail, but I and anyone else should be cautious in heavy reliance on it because it does not appear to have been very rigorously fact-checked. Where it gets real trippy is speculating about the use of AI/chat bots. How many of the posters we interact with (here, Twitter, reddit, wherever) are actually fake? I know for a fact that a pretty good number of Twitter profiles belong to fake bots who are used to build consensus. The profiles aren't that hard to spot- they usually have under 10 followers, and just retweet but don't say much (unless, for example, they are ganging up on somebody talking about an unapproved topic or whatever)
