I own an automotive engineering firm but still have a day job as an aerospace engineering. For my business, I prototype and design parts and then build a manufacturing and fulfillment network.. some products I keep under my own brand, some I sell the right to the designs and the network to big name performance companies. I love what I do on the side.. I have a massive 3D printer, CNC machine and all kinds of fabrication equipment for prototyping and a nice big garage with 15ft of stuffed toolboxes.... my day job is kind of soul-sucking so hopefully I can eventually replace that revenue stream with crypto or more income from my side gig.

My dream is to start an urban mushroom farm/lab. Not quite the microgreen thing, but something similar. It is very profitable rn, and I already have successes with mushroom genetics. But microgreens are a very good idea for a large city, but kinda tricky to sell if the demand is low

>Rarely need more than 3 single sheets per movement.
>I buy one massive roll a year from a friend who owns a restaurant.
>$20 for a whole year of poopin'. How much does your Charmin cost?
>Sysco's finest, single roll lasts over a year.
>Even in a public setting, I do not need to adapt to different types of tp.
I use about 18 sheets a week on average, but that number can fluctuate pretty heavily depending on social obligations and seasonal cuisine. Last year my high was 27 sheets in a week. I am always looking for ways to decrease costs, but short of installing a bidet I don't know how much better I can realistically do without compromising my health. But installing a bidet would increase my water consumption and that is a whole other post.

Psych in UK. I assume nurses are as understaffed in US as here - use that to your advantage. Spend a year or two doing whatever to build the CV, then you can either join a nursing agency for >2x normal salary, or get a management level desk job for comfy life.

>> No.28639325

>>28638194
Yes, it is very profitable. Substrate costs just a little, and you can find even free substrate (sawdust/woodchips, that's what i plan to do).
My plan is to start a genetics laboratory at home and buy a medium-sized growtent (2x2 meters) for some time (until I can afford renting some space at the cheapest warehouse with heating and electricity). That is 2-4k$, I would be able to afford that in a year or so (400$ salary lol).
I can sell good genetics for a reasonable price online, sell premade fruiting blocks for those who want to grow their mushrooms by themselves, sell some medicinal mushroom powders/extracts (I have discovered a technique of extracting ferments from mushrooms that nobody uses in my country yet, and it just goes pretty much under the radar in the rest of the world as well), and also I can sell some exotic gourmet mushrooms to some local restaurants or just straight up to the people.
That's the plan, just have to accumulate 4k$ with salary and crypto, currently sitting on 500-600 bucks, but I'm pretty enthusiastic

Not sure if same elsewhere, but the majority of hospitals, care homes, community teams etc are understaffed nurse-wise and use agency staff. You're essentially self-employed and pick your shifts from what is available from the agency.

Places generally have contracts with certain agencies that they use, and they place them into tiers according to cost. They'll try get regular staff to do overtime first to cover shifts, if noone wants to work it they'll then try to get cover from the cheaper agencies first. Then if it's last minute they still can't find staff, they'll offer the shift to more and more expensive agencies for short notice, high pay work.

Eg Thornbury pays high (£32-40ish per hour), but you have to travel to get work and you have to go as soon as they call.

The lower paying agencies will be more secure, so you can get regular 3-6 month contracts at one place and still earn around £25 an hour.

Then there's care homes who are poormode and offer £18 an hour, which is still quite a good rate tbf.

There's costs to being a self employed nurse as you need to pay for your own insurance, training courses etc but all in all it pays for itself. Also there's some tax schenanigans you can do by setting up a limited company and putting your wages through that.

I have a trade, chef of 9 years now. Wouldn't recommend it but there's ALWAYS work regardless of recessions, covid you name it people always eat and rich pricks need to feel important. Always negotiate your worth.
Currently running two side hustles which after two years have taken off pretty well for me. I reload ammunition and sell that shit in my state legally and I also tie fishing flies
>Fly tying
I tie both saltwater and freshwater flies to send all over the world. From Lithuania to Australia I've sold these little charms. Charging 25-40% less than retailers to tie something that'll take me 20 minutes (speedy hands like a chinese slave laborer) I can essentially earn myself an extra $50-150 after I finish at my day job depending on how dedicated/ tired I am. Most expensive part is the hooks and thread, everything else is a mix of synthetic and natural materials I source locally and usually next to nothing.
>Ammo
Ammunition varies, most of what I've been selling has been 9mm, .45, 556 and 308 but I'm now branching out into 12g shotshells. The presses are the majority of the overhead since the ranges I frequent people just leave their brass behind. Wasteful.
Got a friend who smelts lead and plates that shit once projectiles are cast. That's his little side business, recycling lead and casting projectiles by the thousands. I buy/ trade him for 9mm, 40, 45 and 12g slugs, hes trying to figure out how to cast smaller BB sized pellets and 00 sized shot. In short, I'm making coin on the wastefulness of boomers, somehow my LGS always has powder and primers I have no idea how. This last ammo shortage has been fucking amazing for me. Typically I'll spend a few hours on my days off churning out a few thousand pistol rounds on a progressive turret I have pre-set ready to go. Shotshells take a bit longer but for rifle calibers I reload round by round for accuracy but these I reload less frequently and usually tailor to individual orders.

Wanna know the kicker? I live in a deep blue state.
And only pay taxes on my day job income. I've even been audited twice. My current coworkers literally think I'm Ron Swanson since I buy PM's and crypto with very little (10-15%) of my wealth in fiat. I'm low 6 figure crypto and equally low 6 figure in PM's (mostly gold) and I don't gamble massive amounts in either pond I'm playing the long game. Essentially my side hobbies are fuelling my slow funding into shitcoins that have over time payed off pretty well, patience. I've spent a considerable amount of time ensuring if shit goes south I'm good to go, property is my next conquest.
But should the worst happen I can pack all my life into my truck within 20 minutes and be gone. During last year I kept a loaded 870 behind my door and my AR loaded next to my bed, locked up both before going to work. Been broken into before and most of my shit is in a 675kg safe bolted to the foundation AND the studs behind it, but hey whats a PS4 and an off brand TV really worth compared to whats in there?
